Las Vegas: Independence Day DUI Checkpoints

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Traffic Bureau, Officers from the East area commands, along with Officers from Henderson and Boulder City will be conducting a “Sobriety Checkpoint” this Independence Day weekend. This multi-jurisdictional event to focus on both drug and/or alcohol impaired drivers in the hope of reducing the impact of impaired drivers during this holiday weekend.

The checkpoint will be conducted on Friday July 5, 2013 between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. The location selected for this checkpoint will be in the South Central Area Command, which has shown to be a high traffic area for accidents and impaired drivers.

The checkpoint will focus on identifying drug and alcohol impaired drivers to include juveniles, young adults, and older adults, before they get involved in a collision, thereby increasing the safety for all Southern Nevada motorists.

This event symbolizes the commitment of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Henderson and Boulder City Police Agencies toward reducing the number of DUI incidents and decreasing the number of alcohol related traffic collisions as well as alcohol related traffic fatalities.
