Rick Ross, friend of DJ Khaled states his friend is “not playing” when he popped the big question to Nicki Minaj during an MTV interview yesterday. I guess it happens to be no coincidence that Khaled is releasing an album in a few months. Or that Minaj started in his biggest song, “All I do is win.”
Khaled took to the camera, pleading his love to to the eclectic pop artist. “Nicki Minaj, I’m at MTV, I’m going to be honest with you; I love you… I like you, I want you, I want you to be mine. Nicki Minaj, will you marry me?” He then popped open a ring box that contained a 10 karat ring! Ever the gentle giant, he followed up with, “If you gotta take your time and think about it, I understand, but I know I have to be here today to let you know how serious I am and how serious this is to me.”
Things that make you go “hmm!” Ross stopped by the studio of ‘Power 106’ and reviewed the video of his friend popping the question. He stated, “If you spend a half a million dollars, you’re dead-ass serious.” The ‘Drug Money’ rapper is also making an appearance on the album slated to be released by Khaled. There has been no official response from the Minaj camp about an answer.
So, what should Minaj do? Currently, she isn’t linked to anyone romantically. Her last relationship was with Drake, but now she is a solo act. Considering that Khaled spent a reportedly $500,000 on the ring maybe the songstress will consider. Khaled makes some amazing points:
- Both are “suffering from success” (also name of new album….) The ‘Starships’ singer has a net worth of $45 million. While Khaled is not “suffering” as much as Minaj, he has an impressive net worth of $10 million dollars. They know schedules get in the way and can make that work
- Khaled is not proposing impulsively. The ‘Welcome to My Hood’ artist has known the wig happy Minaj since their 2012 video ‘Take it To The Head.’
- Not many celebrities would be willing to drop $500,000 on a 10 karat ring for a publicity stunt
Since no word has been received from Minaj or her publicist, maybe she is considering it. Or maybe she’s thinking of taking to Twitter to tweet a gentle declination of the kindly offer. Overall, while many have pushed aside the proposal as fodder, if the superstar team decided to flip the switch to marriage, it could make them a powerhouse couple. Not quite Jay-Z and Beyonce, but you get the idea.
Rick Ross is rooting for the two singers to connect and stated, “If they tie the knot, I got to most definitely represent like a boss.” I guess we’ll see what this next week reveals. Many are already tossing the proposal video aside calling it a stunt, yet close friend, Ross says his dude his “not playing.” Khaled took to video to propose to Minaj because, “The only reason I’m not telling you this face to face is because I know that you’re busy…You need a man like me in your life that’s gonna take care of you and respect you.” The ball is in your court Minaj.
