Porn-addicted Lawyer Sues Apple

Genesis is not the only example of an apple leading humans to sin, if you believe a porn-addicted lawyer from Tennessee, Chris Sevier. On June 19, 2013, he filed a complaint against Apple for letting him access porn from his MacBook.

His complaint runs 50 pages, is rambling, and filed with misspellings and inaccuracies. In it, he writes that he intended to go to the social media site Facebook.com but instead accidentally typed  ‘f***kbook.com’. He then found himself at a porn site which led him to his addiction to porn.

What changes would the porn-addicted lawyer like to see in future Apple products?

Chris Sevier suggests in his complaint that Apple include a feature on its products which will automatically block all pornographic sites as it may compromise the lives of its users.

Those of legal age will be required to call Apple to unblock the restriction of the sites after signing a waiver of the consequences it may bring. The company will then give a code which will be used to remove the block on these sites.

Sevier, 36, is representing himself in court. He complains that the porn sites he visited caused him depression, negativity, and also affected his work because of his addiction.

He also wrote in the complaint:

Before purchasing a Macbook, the Plaintiff never went to a strip club or sex shop of any kind. Before purchasing a Macbook, the Plaintiff had never seen pornographic images.”

In what ways did porn adversely affect Sevier’s life?

Sevier blames porn, and, by extension, Apple, for his failed marriage. Instead of his wife, he claims he desired younger girls because of his exposure to porn actresses who are usually 21 years old and below.

After his wife left him, Sevier became deeply depressed and claimed that he was even confined in a hospital due to his severe depression. Sevier further claimed that he now can’t tell the difference between porn and “intangible intercourse” because of the sites. He believes that none of this would have befallen him if Apple had only warned him of the dangers of accessing porn sites.

To Sevier, his beef against Apple is not one based on morality. Rather, he insists in his complaint that he “is not a proponent of legislating morality in the extreme,” and he writes that “members of society should not be prosecuted for ‘being human.’” However, Sevier believes that porn controls on Mac devices could “save … countless marriages [and] impact generations to come.”

In his complaint, filed in federal court in Tennessee, Sevier alleges that Apple engaged in fraudulent misrepresentation, products liability, outrageous conduct and intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

Does watching porn also lead to stalking country singers?

Less than a week after filing his complaint against Apple, Servier made headlines for a very different reason than his complaints that Apple’s negligence led to his addiction to porn.

Sevier was arrested for allegedly stalking country music star John Rich, according to a report in The Tennessean. Mark “Chris” Sevier was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking for repeatedly sending emails to Rich, according to the arrest warrant.

In one of the emails, Sevier included a picture showing himself draped in an American flag and covered in a substance “believed to be representing blood.” The warrant for Sevier’s arrest also said he had stalked Rich for years. It wasn’t the first time he’d had a run-in with stalking the country music singer. In the past, Rich has filed two previous restraining orders.

Chris Sevier has been placed on disability inactive status by order of the Tennessee Supreme Court, due to “mental infirmity or illness.”

In the case of Porn-addicted Lawyer vs. Apple, will Chris Sevier succeed in his attempt to sue Apple, or will Apple retaliate and counter-sue him? It might be the first example of an Apple biting back.

For all the BS lawsuits Apple has brought to the courts, I hope this guy wins. This is just too funny!

I bet even the porn he was watching was boring otherwise he could have learned how to please his wife. Also, if he has no self control how did he become a lawyer?

There is no way that Apple would lose the case. It would mean that every single maker of computers would likely have to also do what Sevier suggests, or risk getting sued. The First Amendment’s right to freedom of speech and expression would be infringed upon. Sevier has other problems going on in his life, as the incident I mention where he has stalked country music singer John Rich points out.

He, like anyone else who watches porn, can stop watching at any time. I’m not saying that people can’t become “addicted” to porn; just that no company like Apple caused their addiction. That’s my opinion, anyway–for whatever it might be worth….

Hmmm, after reading the complaint, I’d say the plaintiff has a good chance of actually winning this case.
