Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey is not apologizing for a baseball hat he was recently seen wearing that read “free Hernandez” at a night club.

A photo of Mike Pouncey and brother Maurkice wearing the hats at a nightclub a week ago went viral, and Maurkice has already apologized for his decision to wear the Hernandez hat.

The two twin brothers were out on the town in Miami to celebrate their birthdays a week ago when the picture was taken.

College teammates of Aaron Hernandez at the University of Florida, the two were supporting their former tight end by wearing the hats.

Negative feedback flooded the two after the picture surfaced, and Maurkice Pouncey, the center for the Pittsburgh Steelers, apologized shortly afterwords for wearing the hat and supporting his former teammate.

“I fully recognize the seriousness of the situation involving my former teammate, and I regret that my actions appear to make light of that serious situation,” Maurkice said on Twitter.

For those of you who haven’t heard, Aaron Hernandez is facing murder charges in the death of 27 year old Odin Lloyd. The deceased former football player was dating the sister of Hernandez’ girlfriend at the time of his death. The two men were seen out at a club, and evidence has surfaced that Lloyd went back to Hernandez house the night of the murder. He later was found dead near the home of the former Patriots tight end by a jogger.

Aaron Hernandez has pleaded not guilty of the murder charges.
