San Leandro, CA Homicide Suspect Arrested
On Sunday, July 7, 2013 at 4:15 pm, San Leandro Police Officers responded to the 15200 block of Hesperian Blvd. to ascertain the welfare at a possible domestic violence incident. Upon their arrival, an unresponsive 60 year old female was found inside. Paramedics responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

During their investigation, police detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the victim’s husband, Zoann Shipp, a 42-year old, San Leandro resident, charging him with a violation of CA Penal Code section 187 – murder.

On Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 4:00pm, detectives received information that Shipp was at a local hospital in San Leandro. Detectives took Shipp into custody without incident. He was later transported to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, CA, where he is currently being held without bail.

Lieutenant Robert McManus stated, “Crimes of domestic violence often go unreported to police and such as in this case, sometimes end in tragedy. We offer our condolences to the victim’s family and friends.”

Detectives will be meeting with the Alameda County District Attorney on Friday, July 12, 2013, to present their case for charging.
