You know that extra tire we carry around our middles? When we need someone to blame we turn and point to our, say 13-year-old’s and say “he did it!” Shakira shames us now, as the proud mama displayed a dance floor ready body just six months after she had her baby.
Shakira was vacationing with her sweetheart this week, when she was snapped looking trim and enviously sexy. The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ songstress worried about not feeling sexy again after having her baby. She seemed to prove that wrong with her loose locks and toned limbs.
On Wednesday night the Latina-American pop artist hit the dance floor with boyfriend Gerard Pique at The Emerson Theatre in Hollywood. The Spanish footballer (psh soccer for us Americans!) happily stood back to watch his lady love shake, roll and rattle her fabulous body for him. Soon after, Shakira jumped into his arms, her legs entwined around him. She didn’t lose sexy or surprising!
Club-goers report the love birds only had eyes for one another. Little Milan was left to loved ones as the couple celebrated a date night. Shaikra did cause some grumbles when she stated back in April, “I knew I had to come back here to do The Voice two months after I had delivered a baby. I didn’t have my four months of maternity like every woman on earth has. I’m not trying to complain, but it’s been a process full of challenges.”
Shakira would be wrong on the generalization of four months, unless working moms forcibly take the time with lost pay and worries of child-care. Something, we feel the songstress doesn’t have to stress out about. The average maternity time in the United States is seven weeks, not even a full two months to bond with a baby, in addition most of that comes with little to no pay. A study completed a few years ago shows that only 16 percent of American companies offer full paid maternity benefits. A larger percentage of families typically have to turn to public assistance for help with a growing family. Okay we digress, converting back to the subject at hand.
Shakira shared her fears right after she found out she was pregnant. Fears every mother could understand, “I was like ‘Oh My God, am I ever going to be sexy again? Is my man ever going to be attracted to me again the way he used to be?’ All these feelings that you deal with, all these fears that come to you. You wonder if you’re ever going to be your old self again or get your body back.” Insecurities are something empathized with women everywhere!
Shakira dedicated her post-baby life to spending time with her family and reclaiming a regiment in her life of diet and exercise. She stated she loves to Zumba and it is a workout she enjoys and sticks to. Zumba is an immensely popular workout. It incorporate large, full body motions and can burn upwards of 900 calories, depending on weight.
While we may disagree with the gorgeous ‘Whenever, Wherever’ crooner on some of her statements, most can agree she rebounded with sexy in mind with her post-baby dance floor body. She is looking healthy, happy and her beautiful family can certainly shake her work blues away.
