The hallmark of the extreme Left, which has been in control of the United States since Barack Obama became President, has always used distraction as a weapon: Whilst the Progressive agenda is advanced, leaving economic and social destruction in its wake, the American people have to be dumbed down and distracted by other issues, to prevent them from realizing that their way of life is under attack. As distractions go, the shooting of Trayvon Martin is manna from heaven; it is, in fact, the best news the Left has had in years.
The black community has suffered disproportionately under the Obama regime. According to CNN Money, the unemployment rate amongst black Americans rose to a staggering 14.4 percent in June – a rise of almost a full percentage point since May. The rate for the country as a whole remained steady, at an official figure of 7.4 percent – still higher, it should be noted, than at any point during the Presidency of Obama’s predecessor, according to government statistics. A larger percentage of black Americans now live below the poverty line and rely on welfare programs for basic survival.
To put the CNN Money figures in perspective, the report goes on to suggest that the recent spike reflects the fact that more black people began actively searching for a job, rather than more black Americans losing a job. This means – assuming CNN’s assumption is true – that 0.9 percent of black people decided not to give up the struggle to become self-sufficient. It hardly reflects anything positive that this administration – and this Congress – has done for the black community.
Today, however, the black community – which overwhelmingly supports the President, based almost entirely on the color of his skin – is not marching for jobs, education, opportunity or prosperity; it is marching in protest the acquittal, in a criminal trial, of a man who defended himself by shooting a black teenager who’s name most of the protesters couldn’t spell. In addition, none of these protesters would know, or care, about Trayvon Martin if he were white – or if the man who shot him were black.
Trayvon Martin’s death is the gift that keeps on giving for the Left; at a time when Congressional hearings are being conducted into who ordered the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to target organizations who oppose the President. These hearings are slowly uncovering more evidence that the targeting was, indeed, purely political and that links to the White House are becoming more difficult to ignore. The IRS scandal, however, is not the only crime of this administration for which George Zimmerman’s acquittal is the shiny object that draws the attention; the American people – or those who are actually paying attention – are still awaiting answers to the following questions:
Why did the Justice Department allow Mexican drug cartels to acquire large numbers of firearms from US gun stores and then not bother to trace them? Was it, perhaps, in the hope that the rampant violence in Mexico could be officially blamed on American firearms laws?
Why did Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta – knowing that an hours-long terrorist attack was underway against the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya – refuse to lift a finger to rescue American personnel? Why, after the US Ambassador and three other Americans were murdered in that attack, has the administration hidden the surviving witnesses away and is attempting to prevent them from revealing what they know?
What has happened to the billions of taxpayer dollars that have been, supposedly, ‘invested’ in the American economy? Why have dozens of so-called ‘green energy’ companies gone out of business since Obama became President – after having receiving huge amounts of money from the federal government?
Why has a President who, as a candidate, railed against warrantless spying on American citizens, now expanded the surveillance powers of the National Security Agency (NSA)? Why have various federal agencies, collectively, purchased tens of billions of rounds of hollow-point ammunition?
Trayvon Martin is dead because he physically attacked a neighborhood watchman who was doing what the community – including its black residents – had asked him to do, and were grateful for him volunteering to do. That neighborhood watchman – George Zimmerman – was brought up on fabricated charges and found innocent in what even the President admits was a fair trial. It is now time for the American people to move on; to turn their attention to what is happening in the United States of America.
As the city of Detroit – a city run by Democrats for some 60 years – announces that it is officially bankrupt; as the administration continues to provide aid and comfort to enemies of the United States, in both Egypt and Syria and as the aforementioned questions – among many others – all remain unanswered, the Trayvon Martin shooting is the best thing that has happened to the Left for years. So long as they can continue their agenda of transforming the US into a nation of dumb, listless government slaves, they will increasingly need every shiny object they can find, in order to prevent the people from eventually rising up against them.
