Twitter is not doing so hot right now, it has Jessica Simpson back while Jennifer Love Hewitt and Alec Baldwin run for the hills. Most people have seen what the twitter-verse can do and they have become a bit tired of always having to write 140 characters or less. In addition Twitter members can be mean, and sometimes write terrible comments which most people who are attacked do not take lightly. Some become depressed, others angry, and Jennifer Love Hewitt just decided to delete her account altogether.
JLove said recently: ”Unfortunately with all the negativity people choose to send on twitter as well as threats to there own well being. I’m sad to say twitter is No longer for me. I have enjoyed all the kindness and love that came my way, as well as support. But this break is needed.” Hewitt continued: “Life should be filled with positivity and holding each other up, not making threats and sending bad vibes. To those of you who made it a joy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
This was also the reason why Doug Kass, The head of hedge fund Seabreeze Partners , left the Twitter party early. He did not even tweet that he was leaving but he wrote in a personal e-mail: ”After all these years, especially since I have a contrarian streak, my skin is thick, but I have come to the conclusion that tweeting is simply not worth the time or effort.” Kass added: “Unfortunately, there are many haters in the social blogosphere, who, perhaps because of their own issues, drown out the many good people who want a value-added investment experience by learning more and enjoying a healthy dialogue in real time.”
Alec Baldwin, on the other hand, abused his Twitter account by going on a homophobic rant, and therefore insulting a lot of people. He defended himself by saying he had good reasons to say what he said but he did feel humiliated and therefore decided to delete his Twitter account althogether. (Alec has done this before in the past as well, so lets see how long he can keep it up this time.) JLove and Baldwin both are on the run from their twitter accounts and past tweets while Jessica is back on the twitter wagon.
Simpson has missed the memo that celebrities were jumping off of the Twitter ship. (Or maybe she doesn’t receive so much negative feedback as the aforementioned celebs or it might also be that she just decided not to read them.) Either way, she was back on Twitter yesterday, just two weeks after giving birth to her second child and first son. (He goes now by the name Ace Knute Johnson.) She tweeted: “Eric got carried away with his swaddling skills!” and had added a photo of her own mother wrapped up like a baby in a blanket. (Picture below)
Apart from Jessica missing the Twitter memo she does seem to be over the moon with the new addition to her family. A source close to the family said: “The baby is beautiful. He has Eric’s little chin dimple! Maxwell is excited. She doesn’t totally get it and understand, but she is very excited to have a brother.”
What do you think about the whole Twitter situation? Are you following Jlove and Baldwin on their run from Twitter? Or will you be like Jessica? Has Twitter really something worthwhile to offer? Are you glad Simpson is back? Let us know in the comments.
