A recent YouTube video has gone viral, showing an adorable dog providing his own source of entertainment, as he masters the technique of playing fetch… on his own.
The small dog was filmed by a group of tourists in one of the largest cities in Japan, called Kobe, which belongs as a part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan district.
The clever canine was observed playing with an orange ball in a trickling stream, plopping it down one end and tracing its movement through the babbling waters at the other end.
The pooch would then hoist the ball from the river and sprint back to its original starting point, where it would repeat the process all over again, hopping along the stones to retrieve the ball further along, down the stream.
Nearing the end of the clip, it almost seemed as though it was game over, when the ball floated out of reach from the dog’s jaws. The situation was quickly recovered, however, as the adorable dog sprang into the waters to collect his runaway play toy, to continue playing fetch with himself.
However, the popular video had generated concerns amongst its watchers that the dog might be homeless and alone. These allegations were later refuted by the uploader of the YouTube footage, who confirmed the dog was cared for, and did have a home to return to. Going by the YouTube name of Ryan Faw, he took the opportunity to alleviate the community’s fears:
“Don’t worry guys, the dog has an owner. He wasn’t homeless. This was taken in Kobe, Japan for those wondering. Also, I just used my iPhone and then youtube used some stabilizing software. Sometimes it looks pretty weird but I think it turned out alright. I think the dog was a mix between Chihuahua and a long haired dachshund.”
All in all, the main source of the clip has attracted a viewing audience in excess of 1.5 million. It also opened up the floodgates from the hoards of dog lovers, who commented in the droves.
InaudibleBoom stated, “Why the heck is this SAD?… he looks like he’s having a real BALL!” Lafemmefatalle was also remarkably impressed by the cuddly dog’s lone antics, claiming “How freaking cute is this?” Whilst Ritcherscream724 made everyone that little bit sadder by elaborating on his own childhood memories, “This is something I would do as a kid”
This video of an adorable dog playing fetch with himself, however, pales into insignificance when compared to a number of other dog-related YouTube clips, which have soared to viral status. One such YouTube video, entitled the “Ultimate Dog Tease,” has managed to generate over 143 million YouTube hits, since its inception and remains one of the most viewed videos of all time on the Internet.
