Beyoncé is still the queen. Queen Bey is getting some positive feedback. After removing her long hair extensions, and debuting a blonde pixie cut on Wednesday, Beyoncé caused quite the stir on social media with celebrities reacting in full force.
The big reveal came just two days after the 31-year-old finished her last show in Brooklyn, New York, for her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. The 31-year-old star showed off a brand new blond cropped pixie cut on her Instagram on Wednesday, and most were amazed at the results.
Many never thought the world would see the day when the glamorous singer would part from her signature long lustrous locks, but it looks like that day has come. She’s almost unrecognizable with this seriously short ‘do, and we’re wondering if the hair-raising incident on stage with the fan had something to do with this drastic change.
The major hair update comes just two days after the summer leg of her Mrs. Carter Tour wrapped, so we’re betting that Bey was simply ready to let loose and be free.
On July 22, the singer found herself in a hair-raising situation, catching her tresses in a fan on stage in Montreal as she belted out her hit “Halo.” True to form, she never stopped singing as security worked to free her, and later joked about it by posting a rewritten version of the song on Instagram.
Among those who expressed their excitement on the new do included new mom Evan Rachel Wood, Emma Watson and of course Ellen DeGeneres.
Ellen DeGeneres jokingly says, “If you had trouble telling me and @Beyoncé apart before”
Evan Rachel Wood says, “Seriously?! Just when I thought @Beyoncé couldn’t be any hotter, she pulls this one on me. #damn”
Emma Watson states, “Nearly got out my scissors this morning after seeing @Beyoncé’s pixie cut. I only just managed to restrain myself. Close call though”
But there was one person more shocked than most: Her stylist Kim Kimble.
Kimble, the star of WE TV’s L.A. Hair and Beyoncé’s longtime stylist, says her reaction upon seeing the new do on Instagram Wednesday night was more than surprised; it was emotional. “I got a little teary eyed!” she confesses. “I’ve been working for her so long, she has this beautiful long hair and it’s hard to grow hair out. I feel like it’s my hair, I work so much with her. I feel a little emotional but excited for her too. Maybe I’ll cut my hair off now. Short hair, don’t care!”
Kimble had drawn up a whole hair concept for a video they were shooting together this weekend only to have to go back to the drawing board. “I had a whole plan laid out; I wanted to do a retro ‘50s type of hair. I feel like there’s going to be a meeting soon” says Kimble, laughing. “It won’t be the long, wavy, typical hair, but I’m really excited to do something different. No matter what, she knows I’ll give her what she wants!”
Kimble responds to the many comments of people speculating Beyoncé just removed her weave or extensions by saying, “She had great, thick long hair, which she cut off because she’s ready to make a statement. It’s a great one to make: I’m beautiful, sexy, and bold and I can do it all. She’s the perfect model for that: A working woman, mom, superstar, and businesswoman. She’s powerful in herself. “Kimble has stated that she’s excited to experiment with the star’s new “easy, effortless style”; whether she plays up her natural curls or goes for something sleeker. Regardless of what anyone else thinks of the style, “It had to be her decision,” Kimble says. “This was a big step, and its perfect timing.
The superstar known for whipping her luscious locks on stage has made a bold move by adopting a sweet blonde pixie crop. Mrs. Carter certainly has the confidence and poise to pull it off, not to mention her gorgeous good looks and enviable facial features.
