Rumors are circulating around the World Wide Web on the newest Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) cast. The official announcement is due to arrive September 4 on Good Morning America, but some slots are already being reported. Amber Riley who plays Mercedes on Glee, former and publicly renounced Scientologist Leah Remini, Snooki, Elizabeth Berkley and Christina Milian are all rumored to join season 17 of DWTS. The biggest suggestion points to Valerie Harper joining the crew. The 73-year-old Rhoda star announced she was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor earlier this year. If reports are correct and Harper joins the cast, one can imagine the amazing fan-base she will develop.
There seems to be at least a couple of males announced for the line-up. Jack Osbourne and former NFL wide-receiver Keyshawn Johnson may be adding testosterone power to the mix. The former Dallas Cowboys player earned some serious fans after he jumped on Bieber for speeding in his neighborhood. He was angry and called the teen heartthrob “entitled” for driving like a maniac down the street. Johnson’s small children were playing outside of the time, hence the anger. Bieber stated it wasn’t him and a friend of his stated it wasn’t the Boyfriend singer, but Tyler the Creator. Johnson waved off the defense stating he could tell “the difference between a black kid driving a car and a white kid driving a car.” Expect the lovable giant to have some fans of his own if he dances on stage!
DWTS has paved a path of success since its inception in 2005. With former appearances from Evander Holyfield, George Hamilton, Vivica A. Fox, Miley Cyrus, Jennie Garth, Steve Guttenberg and dozens more, the show continues to churn out surprising talent. The light-hearted yet dance-heavy show has faced a downturn of ratings against singing shows like The Voice. With season 17 on the horizon, reaching for more news-worthy names like Snooki and Leah Remini, producers are hoping for a strong season. Executives were tight-lipped about the ratings, but revealed numbers don’t lie. Reportedly, the network was panicked when stats showed the young adult viewing audience was drastically dipping. There is a rumor a change in judges can come along as well.
After dancing coach Maksim Chmerkovskiy did not return last season, the ratings recognized the departure by declining. Reportedly, the network is chasing the hunky soap star for another return in season 17. Additionally, Kym Johnson is going back to Australia to become a judge on Australia’s DWTS. This leaves another hole to fill on the dance show. With the expected changes, the network is truly hoping for a ratings turnaround to avoid starting season 17 on dismal footing. The show should certainly give itself a round of applause, DWTS has remained strong until last season- in a world of dance, singing and additional talent shows drenching network television.
Peppering in Jersey spice with Snooki and controversy with Leah Remini, many fans will look to DWTS season 17 with anticipation. Many fans are excited for the rumors of the new line-up and hopes it remains true for the announcement airing September 4. DWTS is back on air September 16, with a special two hour special of dance-offs. Viewers across the globe are looking forward for the network to prove why they should tune in. Provide your feedback! Are you excited for the list of potentials or who do you wish to see on the dancing stage of DWTS?
