Elle “The Body” Macpherson liked it so she put a ring on it in Fiji marrying her Billionaire fiance Jeffrey Soffer. In an intimate ceremony attended by family and friends, the two rich lovebirds tied the knot, according to Us Weekly.
The exact details of the marriage are pretty obscure, but a source close to the couple has confirmed that the wedding took place.
The 49 year-old multi-millionaire Australian businesswoman, television host, model, and actress dated the billionaire hotel heir for two years until they broke up in March 2012. Apparently when Soffer got injured in a November 2012 helicopter crash, she came running to his side and the romance fired back up.
In March 2013 the 43 year-old real estate developer proposed to the Sydney superstar model who got the nickname “The Body” when she was a Sports Illustrated swimsuit favourite starting in the 1980s.
This is the second marriage for Macpherson, who married to French fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon in 1986. Their marriage folded in 1989. Elle Macpherson then entered into a long term relationship with financier Arpad Busson. The couple were together for almost 10 years. They had two children, Arpad Flynn, 15, and Aurelius Cy, 10.
Macpherson has had one successful venture after another since she gave up modelling as her main career. She was the founder primary model and creative director for a series of business ventures, including the Elle Macpherson Intimates lingerie line, and a range of skin care products called, The Body. In 2010, she became the host of Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model and served as the show’s executive producer.
At the moment she’s an executive producer for NBC’s Fashion Star and she was the show’s host for the first season. But Elle Macpherson turned her back on her business ventures to put a ring on her billionaire fiance to make her relationship legal. It will be interesting to finally hear all the details once the couple decide formally announce their marriage.
The intimate wedding ceremony in romantic Fiji follows the current celebrity trend of small and “discreet” weddings that take place out of the United States. Currently no photographs have appeared of the ceremony and the couple haven’t released any statements to the world’s press.
Interestingly, in the August Issue of Harper’s Bazaar Australia, Elle spoke of marrying Soffer but she kept details of the ceremony very close to her fetching vest. She said, “It’s not a new relationship. It’s been in my life a long time. So I’m not all giddy-just-fallen-in-love. But I have a profound … love … for the men in my life – and that includes my children.”
She went on to explain her “lack of giddiness” by saying, “I’m less likely to take things for granted as I continue on life’s journey, and I truly appreciate the value of a partnership, whether it be a business alliance or finding the perfect client. I’ve always been in very loving relationships, so every relationship has been special, but this one particularly.”
She added, “There are five children between Jeff and I, three of whom are teenagers, so we have our hands full. I have one child who thinks he’s Argentinian and only speaks Spanish, another who largely speaks French.”
With such a multi-national group of children, the decision of Elle Macpherson to put a ring on it in Fiji by marrying her billionaire fiance makes a great deal of “international” sense. We’d like to wish the newly married couple luck.
