Johnny Depp, the Embodiment of Acting
When you look back on the several rolls in Johnny Depp’s career it leaves no guessing as to why he is one of today’s most beloved actors. It is his ability to embody every character he portrays that makes him so mesmerizing to watch. To think, had he not met and married Lori Allison then she wouldn’t have introduced him to Nicolas Cage, her ex-boyfriend, who saw great promise in Johnny Depp and in turn introduced him to a Hollywood agent. In 1984 he landed his first gig in acting in the well known, Nightmare on Elm Street. After his band The Kids broke up he began to really focus on acting, even hiring a private coach.

Training which paid off after his introduction into stardom after replacing actor Jeff Yagher  as Tommy Hanson. He played an undercover cop in the popular Canadian filmed TV series 21 jump street.  One of his larger early on movies  was Edward Scissor hands. It is a well loved movie passed on from generation to generation. Whether he’s playing a young romantic in Don Juan Demarco  or the eccentric Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean or the blood thirsty barber in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, he was always capturing his audience and sweeping them off their feet with his undisputable skill.  

His most recent job was playing the role of Tonto in The Lone Ranger, despite hype before the movie premiered many  critics found the movie to be lacking.  They claimed the movie was stretched too long, that the action scenes were simply overkill and not sweepingly fluid enough. There were several complaints about the scripts as well, Critic claim that it was dull, insipid and tasteless. In the critic count of 209 the average rating that the movie received was 4.8. Though despite the critics distaste  for the film it made 87.3 Million dollars. .

Other critics argue that the movie was action packed, keeping you on the edge of your seat. Also that the visual effects and camera work were brilliantly executed throughout the film, but no matter the tastes the differing critics had, they all agreed on the astonishing performances done by Johnny Depp and his co-star Armie Hammer. Several said the movie was stimulating to the imagination and often you felt placed right in the middle of the scene. The action scenes were thrilling, and that the movie was packed full of comic relief.

Johnny Depp says often he enjoys the simpler thing, like getting together with friends and their instruments and just playing music together. He says it’s the bitter pieces of the past that keep us running forward but always the sweet ones that cause us to look back. Sometimes all he wants to do is disappear in the music.

What’s next for the stirring Johnny Depp? There are several movies in the foreseeable future. One Transcendence, Depp will be playing the role of a scientist, Will, who has worked on the self aware computer with his wife Evelyn and co-worker Max. When a twist of events occurs and Will’s mind gets uploaded into the computer and linked to the internet. The estimated release date will be April 18, 2014. Another is called Into the Woods, where Depp will play a wolf in this film about a witch who teaches various lessons to characters of popular children’s tales, such as little red riding hood, Cinderella and jack and the bean stock. Which is estimated to be released on December 25, 2014. Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is also in the being planned though not a lot was shared on it. It is anticipated to be released on July 10, 2015.
