Currently, live scenes from Egypt’s capital, Cairo, are being aired by NBC News, where the ever-escalating violence surges onward. The catastrophic events center around the military’s recent attempts to remove protesting encampments across the region, who were offering their support to the recently deposed leader, President Mohammed Morsi.
The incident sparked a wave of violent clashes, culminating in the deaths of civilians, militants and journalists, who have been caught up in the chaotic fighting. Much of the city’s infrastructure has been destroyed, whilst many essential services have been temporarily suspended.
During Wednesday’s riots, it is alleged that over 500 people have been mortally wounded.
