MasterChef finalist Josh Marks was arrested after a violent and very strange alteration with the Chicago Police Department. It seems that Marks is emulating Amanda Bynes by exhibiting some very odd and bizarre behaviour. He also apparently has history of violent acts and an arrest record!
The celeb news site TMZ uncovered the story. Josh Marks was arrested last week in the windy city after reportedly hitting a law enforcement official and then he tried to grab the officer’s gun. Five cops had to jump in to control the huge seven foot-two inch Masterchef finalist. It wasn’t easy either, the police had to use pepper spray and batons to subdue the man who claimed he was “God.”
According to Marks’ lawyer, who spoke to TMZ after the incident, that the 26 year-old Masterchef finalist is undergoing evaluation by doctors for a mental illness. The lawyer also told TMZ that Marks wasn’t “in his right mind” when he grappled with Chicago’s finest.
Josh’s attorney, Lisa Marie Butler also related that, “We are working closely with medical professionals to determine if Josh’s behavior could be related to mental health symptoms.” She added, “The Josh that you are hearing about in police reports this morning is not the spirited Gentle Giant that we know.”
Despite his lawyer’s claims of Marks being a “gentle giant,” multiple sources close to Marks have come forward to state that they think he suffers from bipolar disorder. Fellow “MasterChef” contestant Tali Clavijo has also said that, “Josh was two different people … He seemed to always be a party guy, but he had this other side trying to be good.” Clavijo finished by saying, “He had split personalities.”
Apparently this isn’t the first time that Marks has been in trouble with the long blue arm of the law. TMZ has said that Law enforcement sources have confirmed that Josh was arrested in June. Marks was caught trespassing in a Chicago condominium complex after he’d been entering the area secretly several times. He also told the condo residents that he lived there. But that turns out to be untrue.
The condo managers were so concerned at this repeated trespassing from the giant Marks that they informed occupants to “be on the lookout” for a “very tall” African-American man, who “enters the building by catching the door.” Residents were also told not to approach the man, but to call 911.
Josh Marks has yet to appear in court for the trespassing charges. But the Masterchef finalist has more legal problems on his plate than the trespassing charges after his emulating Amanda Bynes in the bizarre behaviour department got him arrested on Monday.
But back to the assault charge that is also pending in Chicago. Apparently a University of Chicago cop spied Josh Marks lurking near University campus on Monday. Allegedly he was attempting to use one of the University’s emergency phones and he had cuts to his face. Sources have said that the police officer asked Marks if anything was wrong.
Marks then said something about celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay being an “A**hole” and that Ramsay had invaded his body and possessed him. This apparently turned Marks into “God.” He then lunged at the cop and punched him with his fist, before trying to grab the officer’s gun.
At the altercation, the police officer and two of his comrades attempted to subdue Marks but despite the use of batons and pepper spray, he broke free and ran off. It was in the backyard of a private residence that five police finally captured him.
At the moment Marks is on a 5250 like Amanda Bynes, but the big difference is that his emulation of the troubled performer has resulted in his being chained to a hospital bed. Josh has been charged with aggravated battery on a peace officer and attempting to disarm a peace officer, both of which are felonies. If he is convicted, he could spend a maximum of 14 years in prison.
