Miley Cyrus, whose performance at last night’s VMAs has received a fair share of negative feedback decrying its unnecessary raunchiness, got a nod this morning from another former Disney starlet. The two are perfect bedfellows not just as celebrities, but because they will try as much as humanly possible to leave behind any suggestion of an innocent image.
Speaking with Us Weekly, Gomez called the performance “amazing” and added that she “thought it was awesome.”
Selena Gomez is no stranger to the shockingly obscene. Last year’s trash film Spring Breakers, in which she played a prominent role, was chock-full of exploitative sexual content, both visually and in its dialogue.
Miley’s most recent response herself to the criticism is this picture posted on her Twitter page:
She is definitely trying. We can give her that.
