Pop superstar Miley Cyrus has hit number one in the UK singles chart with her party song We Can’t Stop. Her accomplishment ends the three-week reign of Swedish DJ Avicii at the top with his song Wake Me Up.

Meanwhile, coming in at number three on the charts is the British rapper Tinie Tempah with his 2Chainz collaboration, Trampoline.

At number four is The Impossible Dream, the latest hit by the classical singers Richard and Adam Johnson, who became famous on the reality TV show Britain’s Got Talent.

The folk duo, Civil Wars, received a big boost in sales thanks to a simple Twitter.com post from soul singer Adele. She recently urged her 16 million followers to buy the band’s new record, and they helped propel the duo into the Top Ten on the UK charts.

With We Can’t Stop, according to the Capital Fm site, Miley has left her Hannah Montana character far behind her. She has said that she’s never tried to be as a good as Hannah Montana. Miley also thinks that it’s unrealistic for the public to believe that Disney stars should have to live up to their on-screen counterparts.

Miley, according to a report by the Daily Star, said she feels she didn’t ever have to pretend to be someone she wasn’t, though she’s thankful to have gotten the chance to play Hannah Montana:

I don’t think I’ve ever had to exorcise Hannah because I think people knew I was different from her in real life. Most people on Disney act as if they are really like their characters but I never felt the need to do that.

“I never pretended I was as good as what Disney writes. They try to make someone not grow up, but you can’t do that to real, normal people.”

While Miley gave it her all when she portrayed the character of Hannah Montana, trying to make her as realistic as possible, she has left that character behind her so she can make her own mark as a solo recording artist:

If I’m doing something I’m going to do it right but then once I”m away from it I’ll do it my way.”

We Can’t Stop is the 20-year-old singer and actress’s lead single from her upcoming fourth studio album, Bangerz.

The hit single has already climbed to number two on the US Billboard Chart. Its entrance at number one in the UK is sure to give Miley reason to be optimistic ahead of her new album’s release later this year.

We Can’t Stop by Miley Cyrus hit number one in the UK by selling 128,000 copies. It’s a good preliminary indication that Bangerz will also do well later this summer.
