Amanda Bynes remains hospitalized under the mandatory 14 day hold initiated by the judge. The starlet has faced fierce criticism from fans and the media about her erratic behavior in the past year. Sadly, that has settled as rumors have surfaced the actress may be suffering from schizophrenia. There is one person in Hollywood that always had Amanda’s back, and that is former ‘All That’ co-star, Nick Cannon. He wrote a letter in support of the troubled actress.
The note is lengthy and a link to the full letter is at the bottom of this article. Cannon starts his letter with, “As we all know I do interviews every single day about all my various projects, whether promoting AGT, Wild’N Out, my album, my stand-up special, NCredible consumer products, and various philanthropic and charitable efforts. Usually during these interviews I am consistently questioned about my wife, my kids, and my health and I happily answer them all. But as of lately I have been hit with an onslaught of questions about someone I consider family, someone I watched grow up, and someone I genuinely feel is one of the most pleasant human beings I have had the pleasure of meeting, Amanda Bynes.”
Cannon’s letter is heartfelt and his support for Bynes real as he states, “The questions have ranged from, “Have you spoken to Amanda” to “Are you working on her rap album”. Sometimes I would answer in a playful humorous manner and sometimes I would brush it off as another Pop culture topic that a reporter was trying to retrieve a sound bite for. But after recent events of Amanda being admitted under psychiatric care and reported as 5150, I see this as no laughing matter.”
This tribute to his childhood friend shows a support of solidarity that will be understood by many as they come to understand Amanda’s situation. ‘PerezHilton’ states friends to the starlet are stating Amanda is on medication and once received, the “voices in her head” started to subdue. Her parents are still fighting for conservatorship and reportedly the actress is in better spirits. Reports from the hospital surfaced that Amanda is even thanking her nurses, instead of calling them “ugly” as she did during the first few days. Hopefully, the starlet will continue to mend.
The star was admitted for psychiatric review on the 22nd of July after police took Amanda into custody. The ‘Hairspray’ actress started a fire in the driveway of a stranger’s home, dousing her pup in the process. Once admitted, Amanda looked to immediately escape. The judge visited the care center and denied the release, siding with doctors on keeping the starlet for a full 14 days of review.
Fans and other celebrities, especially Cannon are now reaching in support for the recovering star. Cannon said it best in his open letter to friend Amanda:
So I say to my sister Amanda Bynes you’re not alone. I’m here for you. I understand. I care and I appreciate you, because that’s what family does and that’s what family is for. I also extend this to anyone else in my life, past or present that may find themselves in hard times. I’m here! Call me! Because I truly believe, the hand you’re helping up today may be the one you’re reaching for tomorrow. So not to be all cheesy and over sentimental but I got to end this with the ingenious Wither’s lyrics “Lean on me when you’re not strong and I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on. For it won’t be long until I’ll need somebody to lean on.”
