Apple is one of the tightest lipped companies when it comes to releases or what they are working on. iPhones are no different and the rumors of what might be announced on Sept. 10th have only increased. There are apparent consistencies in some of the rumors, namely that there will be two new iPhones, the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S.
While everyone assumed that there would be an iPhone 5S sometime this fall, information on how it might be different from the iPhone 5 has been sparse. The newest rumors tell of an iPhone 5S with a gold option, up to 128 GB of storage, and a slightly upgraded camera for low light situations. All-in-all, the basic minor tweaks it seems most of the tech world was expecting. Starting price remains the same as the iPhone 5 currently – $649 without a contract.
There were some whispers in the last few months of Apple designing a cheaper version of the iPhone 5. The thought behind the move was to capture more of the smartphone market, in particular the pay-as-you-go share of the market.
It seems the rumors may have some teeth to them as well. The iPhone 5C seems as though it could be the new midrange phone from Apple, rumored to be made of plastic and possibly coming in a variety of colors. It may loose some features or hardware to end up with the possible price tag between $400 and $500- out of contract.
While there has been some speculation as to whether Apple will drop the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 4S with the two new releases, this still remain to be seen. The argument for dropping the iPhone 4S being that Apple would be able to stop supporting its legacy 30-pin connector in favor of the new Lightning connector.
Other speculation points to the iPhone 5 being pulled, and replaced by the iPhone5C. This seems more likely since it would allow the iPhone 4S to drop in price even more, possibly down to $300 off contract. Which would make the entire iPhone line more accessible to more markets.
Both rumors sound plausible, but with the iPad 2, the iPod Touch fourth generation, and the iPod classic still using the 30-pin connector, it seems much more likely that the technology giant will go for making their iPhone line more accessible.
It also sounds like iOS 7 will be loaded on both new iPhone 5 models, which could mean, if the Sept. 10th announcement date is accurate, the iOS 7 will be available shortly before release.
All of these rumors along with Apple’s tight lipped company policy help get people talking about their products. Whatever may or may not be announced on Sept. 10th, Apple has the attention of the masses once again as we move into fall. Perhaps we will see an iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S, all of which could be coming out very soon.
