Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus aren’t the only two female singers who were the subjects of heated controversy last night at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs.) Taylor Swift also has been heating up the rumor mills and music entertainment news because she (gasp!) dropped the F-bomb at the VMAs and was caught on camera doing it.
Who was Taylor Swift aiming her F-bomb at?
The person Taylor Swift was most likely aiming her F-bomb at is One Direction’s Harry Styles, who is Swift’s ex-boyfriend. She was seated, chatting with her friend Selena Gomez, when One Direction took the stage to accept a Moonman award for their hit song, Best Song Ever. That’s when Swift glanced up, saw Harry Styles, and let her F-bomb fly, exclaiming: “Shut the F- up!” Styles and Swift were together for a very short time last year. They called it quits in January.
Selena had won a Moonman Award for Best Pop Video for her song “Come and Get It” and Taylor Swift had won one herself, for Best Female Video, with her song “I Knew You Were Trouble,” a song that she says she wrote about Harry Stiles.
According to Swift, when she acepted the award for Best Female Video: “I also want thank the person who inspired this song, who knows exactly who he is, because now I got one of these!”
Swift held up her Moonman award as she spoke, and as she did so, the camera panned to Styles’ shocked face.
Though many writing articles about this have suggested that Swift, by saying what she did, will never get back with Styles, well…she did appear with him in a photo at an after-party at mutual friend Ed Sheeran’s house.
Maybe they were just trying to make nice for the camera, or maybe Ed Sheeran didn’t want any unpleasantness at his party, so they just mutually agreed to be photographed together. Or, maybe, just maybe, Taylor Swift is not as pissed off about Harry Stiles as many people think she is, and despite having written the song “I Knew You Were Trouble” and dissing him at the VMAs, she still has a (small) fond spot for her ex-boyfriend in her heart.
Could it be she needs a little bit of inspiration for the follow-up to her smash hit? If so, maybe she could call it something like: “I Knew You were Trouble (Part II).” Britney Spears already beat her to the song title: “Oops!…I Did It Again.”
Whatever the case might be, Taylor Swift proved she’s not above using a choice expletive like an F-bomb every once in a while, if the situation warrants it. And, presumably the situation did warrant it, when she was surprised to see Harry Stiles onstage at the VMAs.
