On this somber day of remembrance, as many individuals gather with their families, go about the clamoring normality of preparing for work and school; a shadow rises in the background. Converging over the brilliance of the day, tendrils of sadness seep into all minds that remember the morning that forever changed their worlds. It brings parents to hug their children a little longer, it brings the arguing married couple to linger over a silent breakfast until a word is spoken, and it brings a sense of awareness of realizing just how small the world really is. As the years pass, each September 11 brings a sense of recognition and truth. The tie that binds engineers like Kevin A. Kelly FAIA, William J. Cundiff P.E, Anders Björkman Naval architect M.Sc and a few thousand more? They mourn with the world, but they question and they demand.
These engineers are not a typically structured and societal based generic label of an “conspiracy theorist.” They specialize in fields such as High-Rise Architecture and are Fellows of the AIA and work within Structural Engineering. They are respected, educated and provide a foreboding review of the series of events leading to 9/11. A date no longer synonymous for closing in on saying good-bye to the summer; rather it is a date that is marred with terms like terrorists, Osama bin Laden, 747’s, over 3,000 victims and memorials. It is a date of strengthening for many, and yet for millions more the residue of question and anger rise ever further. The events that transpired on 9/11 were an immediate emotional connect to the core of mother America. Justice was demanded, sure and swift-damn the rest. Yet, as the days grew so did the questions. Certainly, not every group, not every “truther” could just be this insane and loony theorist?
Dr. Robert Bowman held a PhD in aeronautics and nuclear engineering from Caltech, he served for 22-years in the Air Force. In addition to his impressive educational and military experience, Dr. Bowman once served as Director for the Advanced Space Programs for the Air Force. Dr. Bowman sadly passed on August 22, 2013 falling victim to cancer. Dr. Bowman along with other engineering brilliant minds in the field were the first signers of the 9/11 truth petition. Not exactly the average labeled “theorist.” Dr. Bowman gave a speech in 2011 which held the breath of those in attendance. Within his remembrance, he spoke to experts in the field, military and beyond.
The speech brings a sense of quiet to the mind. Certainly, Dr. Bowman appeared stable, educated, articulate, and above all? Knowledgeable. He worked under both the Carter and Ford administrations. Dr. Bowman brought with him a warehouse of review, professional analysis and delivered it respectfully. The video details why Dr. Bowman provides this analysis of conspiracy and the fundamental reason of his final review. Soon, other engineers, experts and even pilots stepped forward demanding the truth from the government.
These “conspiracy theorists” cannot just be wrong at every instance, they are providing expert testimony. Is this not the same path of expert review demanded in criminal cases within a court of law? Review, determine and final analysis are a common factor of concept for many experts in regards to 9/11. Today, is a very sad day. Further yet is the ominous questions remaining; can a government body truly be this evil, to plan and deploy a mission that killed thousands of Americans? Can something of this magnitude really be, real? Sending thousands upon thousands of soldiers into suicide missions? The simple answer is yes. Expert testimony, such as from Dr. Bowman demands a greater review. A greater need to inquire beyond the surface. Dr. Bowman said, “the truth shall make us free.” Think of the events post-9/11. Consider the regulations, the laws and then consider the experts. On this somber day of remembrance, take into mind the concept of truth, the field experts and never stop asking questions.
