London, September 21,2013: According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), one hundred and fifty people in total have been injured in the attack on Nairobi’s Westgate Mall. Fifty nine people are confirmed dead. The he toll of the injured as well as of the dead is estimated to rise. American citizens are also among the injured, according to Kenyan police. This report has also been confirmed by the United States State Department.
According to a woman trapped inside the Westgate mall, and in contact with a BBC correspondent, the number of attackers is between fifteen to eighteen men. Al-Shabab, an Islamic fundamentalist group having close ties with the Al-Qaeda, has accepted responsibility for this attack.
