Preliminary Statement on Police Involved Shooting –10000 Block of South State St.

At approximately 8:26 p.m. on Sept. 22, 2013, a uniformed Chicago Police Sergeant responded to a domestic disturbance call when he on viewed two unknown offenders firing shots at each other. The Sergeant approached and announced his office, at which time one of the offenders turned towards the Sergeant with his weapon in his hand. The Sergeant ordered the offender to drop his weapon. The offender refused to comply with the Sergeant’s directive. As a result of this action, the Sergeant fired his weapon, striking the offender in the foot. The offender was taken into custody and taken to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries. A weapon was recovered.
