Chicago: Roadside Safety Check in the Austin 15th District

The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the Austin (15th)  District at 5440 W. Madison. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 8:00 p.m. on  Friday, September 6, 2013 and end at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013.  During roadside safety checks, police officers slow down traffic, stop cars at regular intervals  and watch for drivers who show signs of alcohol impairment and other violations as noted
below.

“This program is conducted year round to ensure drivers are operating their vehicles safely,” said Superintendent, Garry F. McCarthy. “This is part of an ongoing strategy to keep the city streets safe for Chicago’s residents and commuters.”

The Roadside Safety Check conducted in the Morgan Park (22nd) District on August 30-31,

Driving Under the Influence 9
Insurance Violations 7
Drivers License Violations 11
Unsafe Vehicle Violations 2
Seat Belt Violations 2
Traffic Violations (other) 13
Total Citations 44
Other Arrests – (1) Possession of Cannabis
Vehicles Towed 11
