There’s no doubt Prince William is handsome, intelligent, thoughtful, well-mannered, and certainly able to provide financially for a wife and children. What, then, was Kate Middleton’s mother Carole so worried about that she almost objected to the marriage between her daughter and Prince William?
While Prince William was reported to have been dragging his heels when it came to the actual proposal, Carole Middleton had also asking the Prince a variety of questions, and rightfully so, about what both her daughter and she as the mother-in-law could expect when the time came for children. In other words, Carole wanted to ensure she would be able to be a true “grandmother” in every sense of the word and have plenty of access to both her daughter and future grandchildren.
Considering their lack of financial constraints, one might assume a nanny is always on duty, but even during her last outing at the Ring O’Fire ultra-marathon, the Duchess of Cambridge explained that Prince George’s grandmother was on diaper-duty that day. The sporting event was marked as the first outing for the Duchess since giving birth to her first son.
Not only does Carole get to enjoy babysitting, she’s essentially living with the couple, or shall we say, the couple has been living with her in her Berkshire mansion, then she actually moved in with them, temporarily we presume, at their home in north Wales for a short time. Since then, she’s returned to her home but always available for babysitting dates. Soon, the couple will be moving into the Kensington Palace, and there’s no doubt grandma Carole will be on-hand to help with the adjustment.
Meanwhile, Prince George, now just over one month old, and is actually third in line to be King, which moves the once wild but always adorable Prince Harry down to fourth, marking the first time in history that “three heirs to the throne are alive at the same time,” explains E!
How does grandparents Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall feel about their new grandson as he cozies himself in the world at 5 weeks old? Prince Charles’ heartfelt statement explained, “Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future.”
Camilla added her own enthusiasm at the time of Prince George’s birth, saying, “I think it’s wonderful news. Mother, son, father are all doing well, and I think it’s a wonderfully uplifting moment for the country.” And added her feelings about Prince Charles’ ability to be a grandpa, “It’s very exciting, and I think it’s wonderful for the grandfather. He’s brilliant with children, so he’ll have a wonderful time.”
Now, both sets of grandparents will have to wait patiently for younger siblings Harry and Pippa to settledown and start families of their own. Otherwise, Prince George will awfully lonely at the kids’ table during Christmas dinner.
