Whether she’s snaking her tongue, wagging her tail or twerking her ass-teroid skyward, pop diva Miley Cyrus has set out to prove that she’s all grown up and doing her own thing…like it or not! In her new video Wrecking Ball, Miley swings nakedly through the air, atop a large ‘wrecking ball’ and fans spent the weekend Tweeting, Twittering and VEVOing, as they watched her swing back-and-forth like blond, long-legged pendulum.
According to VEVO, Miley’s video broke VEVO records as the most watched video in a 24 hour period. The racy video, which debuted this weekend, had eyes-a-popping and jaws-a-dropping with over 15 million views, and then some.
Cyrus’ song, Wrecking Ball is featured on her upcoming album Bangerz, due for release in October 2013. At 20-years-old, with her good-girl image behind her, and more risqué videos in front of her, Miley is everywhere, but the Hanna-Montana of yesteryear; is nowhere in sight.
Aside from being one of music’s’ reigning pop queens, with over 12 million followers on twitter, Miley is not just a singer, but a songwriter and actress, as well. The success of Hannah Montana in 2006 propelled Miley’s career into the stratosphere. Since then, she has acquired a reported net worth of over $150 million and counting.
Two adages come to mind when thinking of Miley: 1) Art comes in many forms, and 2) there is no such thing as bad publicity. However, after seeing Miley’s rump shaking, gyrating and twerking performance at the recent VMA Awards, both adages are questionable. And though many viewers frowned on Miley’s performance, I bet that she’s twerking all the way to the bank.
When Miley’s mother, Tish Cyrus was asked her feelings about her daughter’s scheduled VMA performance, she replied to ‘Gossipdavid’ that “Miley performing at the VMAs is so exciting. It’s just fun for me to be here because it’s been two or three years since she put out a record, and it’s gone so crazy. I’m so excited for people to finally start seeing her as adult and performing, because it’s kind of mind-blowing – it’s huge.”
Papa Billy Ray Cyrus, on the other hand, told Entertainment Tonight, “Of course I’ll always be here for Miley. Can’t wait [to] see her when she gets home. She’s still my little girl and I’m still her dad regardless how this circus we call show business plays out. I love her unconditionally and that will never change.”
Apparently, papa Billy Ray hasn’t seen the wrecking ball video yet.
