In Egypt, the government has issued a court ruling which bans Muslim Brotherhood activities. The order also coincided with the seizing of all the group’s financial assets. As supporters of former president Mohammed Morsi, the group is now included among multiple targets of a country-wide suppression of those opposing the ruling military government.
The court order, issued on Monday, has now made it entirely legal for Egyptian authorities to cripple Muslim Brotherhood activities at the ground level. The decision can still be appealed by members of the group.
