A Nigerian mass murder happened that killed up to 50 students while they slept in their college dormitory.
Many casualties were taken to a hospital in the state capital of Damaturu. Two vans were full of bodies that were believed to be the students of the College of Agriculture in Yobe state.
As security scoured the campus, as many as 1,000 students ran for safety as they were scared of more attacks on the college.
The Militants known as Boko Haram have been identified as the group responsible for the heinous attacks and have called for further operations against the militant group and, in the past, has called for a state of emergency, rallying to rid the north-east state of Boko Haram’s grasp on May 14. Such a declaration may have fanned the flames as revenge attacks are known with militant groups such as Boko Haram.
The attack on the college dormitory was a symbol of Boko Haram’s beliefs that such schools symbolize Western culture, which, in the militant’s beliefs, is strictly forbidden.
The leader of Boko Haram is a man by the name of Abubakar Shekau, which a Nigerian Military has claimed to have killed him. Subsequent videos contradict those claims as Shekau was found alive.
