The Voice will return on Monday night (NBC, 8/7:00 p.m. C), and if the preview of the first episode shown this past Friday is any indication, this might be the popular show’s highest-rated season yet. Watch the two-hour premiere with me, and then check out my review of it here afterwards!
Along with the usual surprises, tears, and awesome singers will be scenes of the continuing budding “bromance” between coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5.
Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will be back, re-joining the other coaches, Blake and Adam. The other three coaches are more determined than ever not to let Blake Shelton win the competition for the fourth year in a row — but, will they have what it takes to dethrone the champion?
Shakira won’t be a coach this season, as she’s going to use the break to record an album and enjoy spending time with her baby son, Milan. Usher, who cancelled his European tour to coach in Season 4, will likely go on tour; but, both he and Shakira will be back for Season 6. It looks as if these coaches will cycle back and forth.
One of the differences that sets The Voice apart from its competition is that, in the auditions, the contestants have a say in who they would like to be their coach, if more than one coach chooses them by turning their chairs.
Blake Shelton, in trying to convince another contestant to choose him, whipped out his three trophies and said: “I can give you three reasons why you should pick me!”
The caliber of singers this season just might be the best yet. During the preview, one performer was so awesome that the coaches didn’t just turn their chairs around; they also stood on them!
There is an awkward but flattering moment for Adam when one young man who has a very good voice says to Adam, after he turns his chair around,”What’s up, handsome?” He adds a bit later, as he’s trying to decide between coaches, that he doesn’t know if he “will be able to focus” because he says that Adam is “so good-looking.”
Also, in one of the night’s funnier moments, a female contestant, who Adam attempts to impress by doing pushups, literally jumps into his arms.
What’s Cee Lo Green wearing the first episode?
Cee Lo Green, in the first episode,is wearing an outfit that might have you thinking of Michael Jackson during his Beat It stage.
The four coaches will open the Season 5 premiere episode by singing “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Christina is looking hotter than ever, slimmer and showing off her slinky long legs that won’t stop.
Join with me in watching The Voice this Monday night, and see if you don’t agree with me that Season 5 might be the highest-rated and best season yet! Which coach is your favorite? Please tell me who, below, in the Comments area, and also why you like the particular coach that you do.
