One of the top defensive back prospects in all of college football will not be on the field as his team continues its quest for an unheard of third straight BCS National Championship title. Alabama safety Haha Clinton-Dix has been suspended from the team indefinitely following a violation of team rules.
The announcement came from head coach Nick Saban following Wednesday’s practice. He would not comment as to exactly what team rules Clinton-Dix violated to earn the suspension.
Saban did give a brief statement on the matter during his press conference. “I’m going to be consistent” he said. “When guys get suspended, I never ever say what it’s for. All right? So, I’m not going there, so don’t ask me. It’s the way it always happens. Every guy. If they do right, they wouldn’t be getting suspended. I don’t know for how long this will be, so don’t ask me that either. That’s the only new news we have right now.”
A junior, Clinton-Dix has been a heavily praised player by both Saban and the media throughout his Alabama career. Considered to be one of the top safeties in the NCAA, and is projected to be a first round draft pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
