'Boy Meets World' Celebrates Double Nuptials

The cast and crew of the 90’s series ‘Boy Meets World’ celebrated double nuptials over the weekend. Two of the actors, Danielle Fishel who played Topanga and Rider Strong who played Shawn, tied the knot this weekend to their fiancees.

Fishel was married in downtown Los Angeles to Tim Belusko, a former sales rep from Orange County. The wedding took place on October 19, in the former Cathedral of St. Vibiana (now a wedding hall). The couple is currently planning a honeymoon trip to Maui.

Rider Strong tied the knot with actress Alexandra Barreto in a camp-themed wedding just today. The two were married outdoors and feasted on ice cream rather than wedding cake for their reception. Their honeymoon destination is to be determined.

The two co-stars of ‘Boy Meets World’ were sad to have missed each others weddings but were excited to be celebrating their marriage together in the same weekend. Many believe that their quick nuptials are a result of the new series ‘Girl Meets World’ that is set to begin airing soon. The series in a spin-off of the original ‘Boy Meets World’ and will once again star Daniel Fishel and Ben Savage, the actor who played Cory Matthews in ‘Boy Meets World’.

In ‘Boy Meets World’ Cory was a young boy struggling with adolescence and the drama of family life. Rider Strong who played Shawn was Cory’s best friend. Daniel Fishel who played Topanga was Cory’s long-time girlfriend and later in the series she becomes Cory’s wife. The series ran through seven seasons from the year 1993 to 2000, when the series ended.

Disney announced the series spin-off ‘Girl Meets World’ in the this year and has set its release date for the year 2014.The series sets the scene for a decade after the last episode with Cory and Topanga, where they now have two kids, one a teenage daughter (Riley Matthews) who is also struggling with the hardships of adolescence, learning from life lessons.

Many of the cast and crew of ‘Boy Meets World’ will have parts in the new series spin-off, including William Daniels who played the infamous Mr. George Feeney. But many new faces will be joining the crew, as well. Rowan Blanchard from the recent ‘Spy Kids’ movie and ‘The Back-up Plan’ is set to play the daughter, Riley Matthews, on the new series. Some others that will be joining in on the ‘Girl Meets World’ cast include Sabrina Carpenter, Kurt Collins, Peyton Meyer and more.

The series ‘Boy Meets World’ was beloved by many viewers and as such made quite a bit of money. Viewers were in love with the series theme and the characters. The show is still running re-runs but now it is time to pass the torch.

Disney is nostalgic about the spin-off series of ‘Boy Meets World’. The producers, Michael Jacobs and April Kelly have stated that the new series will follow in the same footsteps as ‘Boy Meets World’ with

“the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made Boy Meets World so popular.”

Since the announcement many viewers have been awaiting the release date. Though the specific date is unknown Disney received a green light in June for the go in 2014. As they prepare to film the ‘Girl Meets World’ series the cast are also preparing, including getting hitched and off to a honeymoon before the filming.
