CeeLo Green; is he a joker, a smoker or a midnight toker? Or maybe all three? Poor CeeLo has found himself in quite a pile of legal trouble lately. He’s been fighting off charges that he slipped a woman a drink in a restaurant and engaged in non-consensual sex with her. She claims that she awoke naked in his bed with no recollection of what had happened or how she wound up in the cat-loving crooner’s abode. However, a judge has found that there is insufficient evidence to pursue any sexual assault charges against Green.
Now, however, he’s facing drug charges stemming from that case. The drug in question is ecstasy. He appeared in court recently to enter a plea of not guilty and he will be back in court on Nov. 20. If he is convicted, he’d better like the color orange… a lot. He’d could spend a whopping four years in the slammer! How will he choose new candidates for his team on The Voice from jail?
Apparently, CeeLo Green is unconcerned with the prospect of serving time. When asked if he was scared, he said no. His attorney also feels confident the charges will be found to hold no weight, saying “Mr. Green encouraged a full and complete investigation of those claims and he was confident once conducted he would be cleared of having any wrongful intent and it would be established that any relations were consensual. CeeLo had faith that if the true facts were known the district attorney would reject those charges.”
The charges of having ecstasy have caused wild speculation among CeeLo Green fans that he could be fired from The Voice as a judge. However, a statement was issued by The Voice executive producer, Mark Burnett, and he says that Green will indeed be able to keep his coveted position. It seems that this joker, smoker and midnight toker will be free to bang his button and turn his chair around indefinitely, which must come as a big relief to Green and his fans.
The singing star is also working on a reality show called The CeeLo Life which is to premiere on TBS in 2014. This show will follow CeeLo Green around and examine every detail of his life…er… make that every detail except this current court case. It seems that is not going to be included on the upcoming series. TBS has signed on for six episodes which will highlight CeeLo as he lives the life of a famous pop star; recording, jamming and hanging out with his friends and business partners.
TBS producer Michael Wright has high hopes for the show. “With his distinctive voice, winning personality and remarkable ability to tap into a wide range of musical styles, CeeLo Green has risen to the top of the music industry,” Wright said. “This new TBS series will give viewers the chance to get to know CeeLo Green, who is without a doubt one of the hardest working men in show business.”
Is CeeLo Green a joker, a smoker or a midnight toker? His laid-back demeanor might make some say he a toker, but whether he engages in anything heavier, like ecstasy, remains to be seen.
