Is Cee Lo Green Headed to Jail for Date Rape Case? [video]

DrinkSavvy to the Rescue

DrinkSavvy Introduces Drug-Detecting CupsCee Lo Green will soon learn his fate in the 2012 date rape accusation. Green was accused of drugging a woman and then having sex with her. Of course, Green denies the woman’s story.

The woman said Green took her downtown to a Los Angeles restaurant where they had drinks. She claims that’s all she remembers until she awoke naked in bed with the singer alongside her in the room.

The woman was not a resident of California and did not report it at the time it supposedly occurred. After returning to her area she reported it to her local police department who transferred it to the Los Angeles Police Department. According to the unidentified woman, the LAPD then had her make a “pretext call” where they supposedly baited Green into acknowledging the act and recorded it.

Sources close to the case say Green is heard on the tape apologizing over and over and even mentions the drug MDMA; which is commonly called ecstasy. On the recording he never specified putting anything into her drink but said he thought it would give them a better chance of enjoying each other.

Green’s team says no way did that occur. They say the woman tried to get money from Green as a payoff and when he declined she went to authorities. They also claimed if the woman’s story was true Green would already be locked up and that MDMA is not known to knock people out and make them oblivious to what’s going on.

Sources close to the woman said that she never demanded any funds from Green. They insist she reached out to the police before her lawyer contacted Green’s manager. The only reason her attorney reached out to the singer’s manager was to see if he had any known STDs.

Date rape drugs gained notoriety back in the 90’s but have since gained more popularity with the younger generation. They are a source of anxiety for many people because they are tasteless and odorless and basically undetectable in drinks.

A company named DrinkSavvy is trying to intervene with drug-detecting straws and cups. Their products are made specifically to address this date rape pandemonium. DrinkSavvy products are sensitive to the more common date rape drugs such as Rohypnol, Ketamine and GHB. The cups and straws change to red when they come in contact with either of these drugs.

The founder of DrinkSavvy, Michael Abramson, is a former engineering student whose concern with date rape drugs and sexual assault is personal. Abramson says that he along with three of his close friends have been exposed to these drugs without knowing beforehand. He says with so many cases it’s bound to hit close to home to all of us at some point.

Abramson hopes that college campuses and even rape crisis centers will consider including these DrinkSavvy products in their programs of prevention and awareness of rape. His ultimate goal is to convince clubs and bars to use their cups as a replacement of their current stock.

He knows that his products won’t cure all sexual assault problems but is confident that it will make a big enough dent to make a concrete difference.

LAPD is finalizing their report within the next week to determine whether Cee Lo Green will be prosecuted for date rape. Green’s team says they’re not worried because the woman’s allegations are simply not true.

While Cee Lo Green awaits his fate I hope he has learned a valuable lesson about sleeping with people he doesn’t really know as well as the seriousness of the date rape drug.
