Miley Cyrus appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show this afternoon claiming she’s the “happiest she has ever been” following the breakup of her engagement to Liam Hemsworth, and is ready to really start focusing on her music. In fact, in the month since ending her relationship she’s been fairly mute. That is, until now.
Cyrus says she is in a really good place right now. When asked by Degeneres if there were any awkward feelings Cyrus said none at all because she is living through all of it. Claiming people are thinking about it way more than she does, the singer says she believes this chapter in her life is over and it’s time to begin a new one.
Her album Bangerz is, in fact, a chronology of the ups and downs in her relationship with Hemsworth. And Cyrus says she is ready for the music to speak for itself.
The Queen of Twerk says that the entire album focuses on her own personal growth. Beginning with the song Adore You and finishing with Someone Else, Cyrus claims that it was similar to telling a story. She says that she had an intuition on where her life was heading and went with it.
And what about Hemsworth? He’s also been mum since the breakup. Currently in Boston while filiming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay with co-star Jennifer Lawrence, Hemsworth has been seen publicly with singer/actress Eliza Gonzalez. He was, in fact, spotted with Gonzalez in the days immediately following his split with Cyrus.
The last time Cyrus visited Degeneres’s show in November of 2012 the host threw her a hilarious bachelorette party. It’s funny to think that back then Cyrus was actually embarrassed when Degeneres called several strippers to the stage! My, how times have changed. In the episode airing today Degeneres reminded Cyrus of the incident to which Cyrus bashfully asked Degeneres if she wanted her money back.
Showing her usual whimsical side, Degeneres had the set rigged with a gigantic wrecking ball which she offered Cyrus to take a ride on. And so she did. Cyrus appeared to be having the time of her life, a huge difference from her “Wrecking Ball” video in which she spends the entire time crying.
It seems that for now Cyrus is perfectly content on staying single. In fact, she says she is obsessed with the idea of remaining alone and just hearing her thoughts. She claims that she needs to be very clear and determined in every aspect of her life right now. She certainly appears to be quite happy with her decision.
All this alone time will give Cyrus plenty of opportunity to focus on her music. Her maturity and good-natured country girl side really shone through on the Ellen Degeneres Show today. She seemed relaxed and completely in charge. As though her recent breakup, performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, and near-constant twerking may all be a thing of the past.
