Mars orbiter mission saved   Colorado, Oct. 6, 2013: The good news , despite, the government’s shutdown is that NASA’s $650 million orbiter Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution orbiter is all set to lift-off on Nov. 18 as per schedule. Because of the government’s shutdown it was all but certain that MAVEN had been side lined. If MAVEN had been sidelined due to government’s shutdown, a delay in the sending off of the probe had been most unfortunate as the Earth and the Mars would be in perfect alignment early in 2016.
