The Carolina Panthers are currently leading the New England Patriots by a touchdown on Monday Night Football. The game is still close, but showing a national TV audience that you can compete with Tom Brady and company is a huge way for a young team to prove again to the world that it is for real.
This is the second straight week this team has shown the world that it is a force to be reckoned with in the NFC this season. A week ago this Panther bunch traveled across the country to defeat the San Francisco 49ers in their own backyard.
Now the Carolina Panthers are up 10-3 over the New England Patriots in the third quarter. There is still room on the bandwagon if you still haven’t convinced yourself this isn’t the Panthers you’re used to seeing.
In fact, this team is not relying on its young quarterback to win games. Cam Newton is a rising star with his play in 2013, but he is not the reason this team has become a contender.
Defense wins championships, or so they say, and the Carolina Panthers have a good one. Entering the week stride for stride with the Kansas City Chiefs for the title of best scoring defense in the league, the Panthers easily could take over the top spot with a stellar second half.
In fact, this team has not allowed a touchdown in the last 8 quarters of play, the longest streak in the league.
Regardless of whether or not the Carolina Panthers hold on to defeat the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football, their performance has again shown the world that they are capable of hanging with and even defeating the best of the best in the NFL.
