Lady Gaga came out as bisexual four years ago when she gave an interview to Barbara Walters in which she said that the song “Poker Face” references Gaga’s attraction to women. She explained to Walters that the term “Poker Face” means her expression when in an intimate moment with a man and how he would not be able to read her true fantasies of being with a woman. At the time of the interview, her proclamation was widely covered in the media and numerous doubters stepped forward, leading some to ask the question “is Lady Gaga living a lie of bisexuality?”
The people asking this question also accused Gaga of stating she is bisexual as a means of getting more publicity. Since being gay and bisexual is more widely accepted now than ever before, some felt that her announcement was merely a publicity stunt designed to garner media attention and endear her to gay fans and the gay community in general.
Recently, Lady Gaga went on record as stating that her bisexuality is absolutely not a lie and that she enjoys “taking a dip in the lady pond” from time to time, although she is currently dating a man. Besides this affirmation from Gaga about her penchant for the ladies, she has also been photographed with an alleged ex-lover of hers at a lesbian club in New York. The two of them were in a rather compromising position that would not be indicative of their being heterosexual girls. A website called Radar Online also revealed a photograph of Lady Gaga and a girlfriend appearing to make out on a beach chair in Saint Tropez.
It seems that the people asking the question “is Lady Gaga living a lie of bisexuality?” are going to be disappointed to hear that the answer seems to be a definite “no.” Gaga seems as though she is authentically bisexual and she should not have to defend the truth of her sexuality to anyone. Why should it come as such a surprise that Gaga is really bisexual? After all, studies have shown that most women actually have the potential to be bisexual and that that potential grows as women age.
Gaga has said of her sexuality, “I love men, I love women and I love sex. I don’t really consider sexual orientation in general. It’s like, people are born the way they are.” She has also described in extremely graphic terms exactly what physical part on a woman’s body she enjoys, and then went on to say:
It’s similar to how I feel about guys. I like them because I find lesbians to be way more daring than straight men, when it comes to coming on to you. And I really like that. And it wasn’t until I found a guy that could come onto me as strong as a lesbian that I fell in love.
Besides enjoying the romantic company of women, Lady Gaga is also an active crusader for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rights, and has often spoken out about her feelings. Her song Born This Way is dedicated to all of the people who have ever felt excluded from society because of their sexuality.
Is Lady Gaga living a lie of bisexuality? The answer seems to be a resounding no. It appears that her love of the fairer sex is 100% authentic.
