Shooting at the Garden State Plaza Mall New Jersey

Paramus, New Jersey—Shots were fired by an unknown gunman late Monday night at a quiet, suburban mall. Shoppers were panicked.  And an enormous police presence responded. The shooter is still at large. The shooting took place inside the Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall off of Route 4 in Paramus, New Jersey. The gunman so far has not been located. No one was reported shot or injured so far.

The Bergen County SWAT team is currently doing a sweep of the center. A spokesman for the state police said it is known that at least one gunman shot at security cameras at the mall. One person alleged to having heard six or seven gunshots. These were heard at 9:20 P.M. A bystander reported that frantic shoppers raced out of the mall. One clerk said that she turned off the music and lights in her store and hid. Another clerk said that she saw a person dressed all in black carrying a large gun walking past her store. It was ten minutes before they were ready to close for the night. At 9:30 P.M. a tremendous police presence, 20 cars both market and unmarked, arrived on the scene. Police were seen in flak jackets carrying assault rifles. The shopping center is currently on lockdown.
