Twitter Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do

TwitterTwitter is a social media site that allows you to share in short 140-character posts. It’s possible to follow celebrities, friends and stay up to date with information; but you knew all that already. There are a number of things that you didn’t know you could do on Twitter and things that you will be able to do in the near future.

Stick to Your Diet and Kick Your Habits

Whether it is smoking, alcohol or just a shopping addiction, you will benefit from making notes about your thoughts and feeling. Support is another major thing. This microblogging social networking sites offers you both and you can hide behind an alias at the same time. There is no need to let your friends know that you are doing this and can even keep your pages private, so only those who follow you can see.

The site gives you the platform to make short posts, whenever you want. You can use hashtags so that all posts collect and others going through similar addictions and troubles find you. It is really easy to then build a support group together.

Let Your Appliances Talk to You

One of the tricks that you didn’t know yet is that Twitter allows you to set up a way for your appliances and plants to talk to you. There are applications that link to the social media site that will send a text message to your phone. The next time you need to water your plants or when you need the reminder that your potatoes have finished baking, you will get the message instead of having to keep an eye on the clock.

Some of this can take extra knowledge and technical needs but the opportunities are endless.

Book Your Hotel Rooms

This is something that is coming in the future. On November 19, 2013, Loews Hotels and Resorts will allow customers to book their hotel rooms through the social media website. At first this will only be available for 16 of the resorts but the final three may join in if it becomes a success. Unfortunately, Orlando, Florida isn’t going to be an option on the list.

It will be really simple to make a booking and no phone calls needed. You tweet Loews with @Loews_Hotel and #BookLoews, expressing your interest and the date. To process the payment, a secure link will be tweeted to you so the process is completed.

Cops Will Find Crime

There is a possibility that the site will help police catch criminals in the future. There has recently been a look into the development of an app that would search for keywords in tweets to bring up tweets about various crimes. These would be set for specific areas and then there would be the request to look at your tweets. There are pros and cons to this but it does show the possibility for the future.

There are just so many things you can do with Twitter and you likely didn’t know all of them. Social media is becoming a major part in lives and it makes sense that companies are seeing ways they can utilize that. It has even come to the point where the FBI, government departments and security services are looking at using them to help bring order to society.
