Family Guy Welcomes Back Brian [Spoilers]

Family Guy Welcomes Back Brian [Spoilers]

Well, Family Guy fans fought hard for it and tonight they got their wish of being able to welcome back Brian. Yes it is true, the beloved family dog has been revived from the dead. The fans refused to accept what happened and just move on with the new dog Vinny. They did not take Brian’s death lying down. They fought it and tonight, along with Stewie, the Family Guy fans got their Christmas wishes fulfilled. Brian is back.

If one has not seen the episode, then do not read any farther because this article contains spoilers. Tonight saw Stewie ask Santa Claus to bring back his best friend. That was what he wanted for Christmas, well, that and a bicycle. Later in the episode, he and Vinny were at the mall when Stewie saw himself and remembered that he sent himself back in time to get a Christmas present. He knows the time machine is in his backpack. This causes him to think about how he could return to the time before Brian died and save him from being hit by the car. With Vinny’s help, and a short good-bye to the Italian dog, he is able to steal the time machine and return to save Brian.

There was more to the episode but really, did anyone care about those parts?

Aaron Thompson, who lives in Tuscaloosa, Ala., decided to start an online petition in hopes it would help bring the beloved character back to life. Obviously, it was one thing that worked. He should be thanked for what he has done.

Thompson wrote that the cartoon character Brian Griffin was an important part of fans viewing pleasure. The dog gave wit and a sophisticated element to the show. Thompson added that he believed Family Guy would end up losing viewers if Brian was not brought back to the show. He got his wish this evening when Brian returned.

The petition was connected to a Facebook page which was created as a dedication to Brian that is probably hopping with excitement this evening.

The episode was titled Christmas Guy. It is not certain who the title was in reference to, but probably could mean any one of the Griffin family members.

Fans now can sit back and relax that the dog is back thanks to Stewie making his wish. It was done the way most fans guessed it would be, but that really is no surprise. It could not have been accomplished any other way and worked as well as it did. With it being so close to the holidays, Seth MacFarlane making it Stewie’s wish to Santa worked out about as perfect as it could be.

If anyone has problems with it not being “realistic” enough, it was fine. Why would this be a problem when the show was about a dog that went around talking and carrying on meaningful conversations with individuals?  Brian was one of the show’s chief characters. There were numerous episodes and subplots which focused on his skills of being able to talk and drink a lot of beer. Peter Griffin always thought that Brian was his best friend, not only his dog. Yes, of course, realism should have been a major concern here.

Family Guy fans were angry from the time Brian was first killed and they let Family Guy creators know it. Because they were in such an uproar, some fans even started coming up with their own versions of how the dog could come back to life. They were using the idea of how Stewie could use his time machine to save Brian way before tonight’s episode aired. Did MacFarlane listen? No one knows.

Regardless, the fans definitely got their wish. The episode was here just in time for the holidays. MacFarlane may have had no plans on reversing his decision when he first killed off Brian but it is obvious that he bent under the weight of what Family Guy fans wanted, and that was to bring Brian, the Griffin family dog, back to life.

The fans have spoken and they’ve said welcome back Brian.

    Dear Kimberly.

You do realize articles are written months in advance and viewer complaints and petitions couldn’t have any effect on the writing on such a short time line?

The new dog was a terrible character anyways, even if they had not killed off brian and added him as a new character he would still be terrible and would have been written off or into the background quickly.

Seriously, it actually takes 9 months to make an episode. Sorry but, NO, the fans demands and petitions have absolutely nothing to do with any of this. Do you actually think that within the 2 weeks separating Brian’s death from Brian’s return, Family Guy’s staff got enough time to read fans petitions and requests, consider them, write a new episode, record all the voices, create the animation etc etc? Come on, I don’t mean to be mean but think about it for a sec, things were obviously planned to work out like this from the beginning……….Sorry to ruin the idea that “The fans made this happen”…..

Also if you actually watched it you would know that it was set up when Brian died, they wouldn’t have showed time traveling stewie in that episode if they didn’t have it planned. Macfarlane tweeted he would never kill of his favorite character.

The people in charge of the show moved on from him, maybe because they wrote themselves into a wall with him or maybe there was nothing more Brain could add or grow. Either way, this wasn’t the first time a character died, but this is the first time fans complained and one didn’t stay dead.
I liked it better when Brain was dead and the show didn’t listen to a bunch of people that didn’t like a show they ‘had’ no creative control over, but now they do and, like they stated in South Park, Family guy will never be the same again because of it.
