Google Nexus 10 2 Launch at Consumer Electronics Show 2014?

Google NexusThere have been a range of rumored dates for a new Google Nexus 10 2, but so far the dates have come and gone. The latest is the possibility that the Google Nexus 10 2 launch will be at, or just before, the Consumer Electronics Show 2014. So far, the tech giant has refused to confirm or deny any of the dates mentioned and is still keeping quite tight-lipped about the possible release of a second-generation Nexus 10 tablet.

The tech company has been quiet about the release of a few devices. The Google Nexus 5 was released without any pre-marketing. Users simply found the device on Google Play one day. It brings the question whether this is something that the company will do with the second-gen Nexus 10. Others question whether the company is really planning on bringing out a new Nexus 10 device.

The initial rumor of the device was in October 2012, just after the release of the Nexus 5. That was then pushed back to Black Friday and then to Cyber Monday. By the middle of December, most Nexus fans had decided that the tech giant was leaving it until 2014 to release the second version of its flagship 10-inch tablet.

The downside to the 10-inch device is that it is lagging behind in some features when compared to Apple’s iPad Air and Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 tab. The 10 2 would need some major upgrades to compete with those devices, whenever (or if) it is released. Maybe the wait has been to make sure those features are ready, and the Google Nexus 10 2 will wow everyone if launched at the Consumer Electronic Show 2014? Of course, the company could also decide to release something completely different.

The CES 2014 will be the perfect time to release a new gadget, or at least a new generation of an existing one. It is a great platform for all companies to release anything new and exciting, since there are so many tech enthusiasts there to try it. There is not long to wait for the show, either. It starts in Las Vegas on January 7, running until January 10. For those who do not know, it is an annual event for all those interested in technology and electronics.

The question on many minds is why this date? There have been so many and Google has yet to confirm anything. The speculation comes from Walmart offering good discounts on current Nexus tablet. This was a sign that the tech giant was releasing a second generation of the Nexus 7 in November.

The retail giant is offering $50.99 off the current 32 GB version of the 10-inch tablet, so it is now at $449. The Nexus 7 is being offered at a 10 percent discount of $179.99 instead of $199.99.

Stores tend to reduce the price of current stock when they know they will get a new device. However, it is also the season for discounts, and entices many people to spend their gift money. It is important not to read too much into it.

Many tech enthusiasts will keep an eye on Google in January 2014. Could it be possible that the long-awaited Google Nexus 10 2 will be launched at the Consumer Electronics Show 2014?

I used to care about the nexus 10, but I just bought a Toshiba excite pro for £169 new and that has the same screen resolution and a tegra 4 processor. When the nexus 10 is finally released it will probably cost twice as much but will hardly be any better.

Too little, too late. They have missed the major buying periods of 2013 and given a huge boost to their rivals. Tablets were the most sought after Christmas gift this year. I am please with my Galaxy Note and have realised that tablets have a long way to go.

Moore is more. This year’s tablet will smoke last year’s with better video, sound, computers and man/machine interface at about the same price. What else is new.

I think everybody is just wishing. When tech specs start slipping out it will be true. I have not heard a word. I heard LG was doing the next one, then I heard ASUS. Then somebody said Samsung was doing the next also. I don’t know about you. I’m can’t wait and its killing me. I know wait. Be patient..….. Yah right … I just want the new one. It has to have all the new stuff on it.

I like Google’s approach to marketing over Apple’s. Google will simply release a product and let it stand on it’s own, while Apple will hold pre-announcement press conferences to inform people that they will have a new mystery product (which is usually anything but a mystery) in a months time. Then they hold a other press conferences where they say they don’t want to talk about the mystery item, Then they finally release the new item with an incremental improvement and people go nuts for some reason.
