Kim Kardashian claims she is not cheap. After getting mountains of grief from fans and detractors about how she “only” donated 10% of the proceeds from a recent eBay auction to benefit the typhoon victims in the Philippines, Kardashian decided to respond Tuesday on her blog.
In her blog post, “Giving Comes From the Heart,” Kardashian, 33, explained that she gives because she wants to, and because she learned about the importance of donating from her father, the late Robert Kardashian. How much she donates, she says, does not matter, but after figuring in the costs for eBay listings, auction management, end of auctions, and then PayPal, the totals amount to half the sales. The ten percent thereafter goes to charity.
Kardashian added that she changes charities from time to time, and holds eBay auctions every month. Not only does she donate 10% of the proceeds from eBay but she also donates 10% of her earnings to charity. Kardashian earned $10 million this year, claiming she is not cheap.
Over the last 5+ years, I have listed thousands of items on eBay Giving Works for various causes. I will continue to do what is in my heart and am happy to know many others have enjoyed purchasing from me, as they too are giving with me.
When Kardashian announced she was going to donate to the Philippines disaster relief efforts, little did fans realize that a “portion” of the proceeds meant 10%, not a significant amount, in their opinion, when taking into account Kim Kardashian’s considerable wealth. Many believed this was just a “publicity stunt.” The donated clothing comes from Kardashian’s personal closet, and includes brand names such as Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs and Prada. Kardashian claims she is not cheap.
Kardashian Shows off Her Post-Pregnancy Body
Kardashian doesn’t only have to deal with negativity about her charitable efforts but she also attracts negativity about her body, something akin to body shaming. She appears on the new US Weekly cover, showing off her newly slim body in a two-piece white bikini. After months of negative publicity about her pregnancy gain with her first child, she appears happy to show off her slim but curvy figure to the world.
Comments on the US Weekly cover is calling bull on Kardashian’s appearance, claiming it’s the work of Photoshop magic. One commenter claims, “Those proportions aren’t possible.” (This writer will tell you that yes, Kardashian’s current figure is possible because there are many bodies of similar shape.) Kardashian reportedly claims she lost the baby weight with the help of the Atkins diet and regular workouts.
In October, Kardashian posted a selfie in which she wore a one-piece swimsuit showing her ample bottom. The photo elicited an urgent-sounding tweet from her fiance, Kanye West, saying he couldn’t wait to get home. Kardashian reportedly called the selfie her “big middle finger to the world.”
Kanye West appears to be Kardashian’s biggest fan. He made the infamous claim that Kardashian deserves to be on the cover of Vogue more than First Lady Michelle Obama. The 36-year-old singer reportedly says Kardashian is a major influencer when it comes to fashion and that people don’t pay as much attention to Michelle’s fashion choices as they do to Kardashian’s.
