A man who had won a Breaking Bad contest to meet the entire cast of the hit television series was arrested Tuesday on felony drug charges. There is no word as of yet what the man’s motive was for possessing such a large amount of synthetic drugs.
Ryan Lee Carroll’s home was raided Tuesday which led to the arrest of the 28 year old. Carroll’s home is situated in the San Carlos Park region of Fort Myers, Florida.
Carroll was able to meet the stars of the hit series Breaking Bad back in September when he won a national contest before the hit series ran its finale, now he is charged with felony drug charges. It seems he had been living the show this whole time. He was arrested on felony charges for possessing synthetic drugs. He was also charged with a misdemeanor for keeping a vehicle or shop that housed dangerous drugs.
At the time Carroll won the show’s contest he told a local news team that watching Breaking Bad is, “just so addicting. [Breaking Bad] it’s such a good show. I think it’s addicting because people can relate to the main character.” Clearly he found identifying with Walter White a little bit easier than most fans of the shows and now has the felony drug charges to prove it.
Carroll apparently sold synthetic marijuana from his home by shipping it across the country. Upon arrest officers on the scene seized piles of synthetic marijuana estimated to be worth more than 1 million dollars. Authorities on the scene also report that he used a cement mixer to create the synthetic drugs.
The show is based upon the life of a science teacher who becomes a meth dealer in order to pay for his medical expenses and provide for his family once he can no longer work. There is no confirmation as to whether Carroll shares any of these sympathetic characteristic as well.
One thing is certain; Carroll could use an ethically questionable attorney such as Saul Goodman from the show because the warrant which was served on him at his home appears to be substantial.Neighbors who witnessed the arrest described it as something you would see on TV or out of a movie. First there was quiet and then suddenly a pack of police cars with multiple police officers surrounding the neighborhood. Lee County reports that Carroll is still in custody. At the scene of the arrest, police officers found a souvenir from the television show Breaking Bad. Apparently Carroll owned a signed Hazmat suit which was signed by the cast of the hit series.
The television show Breaking Bad has also reached the recent headlines for positive reasons this winter. Recently the show was named to the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most beloved television series of all time, currently owning a solid 99 out of 100 rating on Megacritic.
If Carroll’s ensuing battle with the law will turn out like Walter White’s remains to be heard. However, for now, fans of the show can take caution in this colossal coincidence as the man who won a national contest to meet the stars of Breaking Bad has been arrested on felony drug charges.
