What can be more dramatic than Ronan Farrow’s controversial comments against Woody Allen on Golden Globes Awards night? On Sunday night, Woody Allen was awarded the Cecil B. Demille Lifetime Achievement Award but Mia Farrow and Ronan Farrow hated that decision, it seems. The legendary director’s son re-ignited the old sexual assault charges surrounding the director after the Golden Globe Award was announced.
Mia farrow was married to Woody Allen until they broke up their 12 years of marriage. It was alleged, that the Annie Hall actor had sexually abused his adopted daughter Dylan and had several affairs. He also had an affair with Soon-Yi, an adopted daughter of his ex-wife, but as soon as it came to the forefront, she separated from him.
It was during the same year that Mia’s adopted daughter Dylan, reported misconduct against the famous director. She alleged that Woody Allen touched him inappropriately. She told the Vanity Fair, “I have never been asked to testify. If I could talk to the seven-year-old Dylan, I would tell her to be brave, to testify.” It was due to these issues that led to their separation. Ronan Farrow’s criticism brought a lot of speculations over this issue and Golden Globe Awards in the social media. Ethical point of view is not everyone’s cup of tea, but as far as cinematic quality is concerned, no one can be a better person than Woody Allen, don’t you think?
Mother and son duo took to the social media to voice their anger against the Golden Globe management. Allen’s ex-wife posted that molestation of a 7-year-old child is a grave mistake and “Golden Globe tribute showed contempt for her.” This comment was only an addition to the remarks of her son. Her son tweeted, “Missed the Woody Allen tribute – did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall?”
On the other hand, in Vanity Fair, Mia Farrow disclosed some startling facts. She said that Ronan was basically fathered by Frank Sinatra and not Woody Allen, which caused some media stir for a few days after the Golden Globe Awards. Many of her children came out to criticize the unhealthy upbringing they faced in their home. The Rosemary’s Baby actress not only agreed with her son, but also shared some of her burning grievances against her ex-husband. Golden Globe Awards 2014 brought a lot of surprises and also some personal attacks it seems!
Controversies surrounding the Annie Hall actor are nothing new, but scornful remarks in social media re-ignited the unpleasant past. When the Cecil B. Demille Lifetime Award was announced in the Golden Globe Awards, the Rosemary’s Baby actress posted in her Twitter account, “Time to grab some icecream & switch over.”
It was Diane Keaton who accepted the Cecil B. Demille Award on behalf of the Annie Hall director, because he was unable to travel to Los Angeles. She said that his films have been enlightening and changed the perception of life to a great extent. She also added that all female actors who acted in Woody Allen’s pictures, “can’t be compartmentalized.” So, the Golden Globes Awards 2014 brought with it a lot of surprises and criticisms, but Ronan Farrow’s criticisms on Woody Allen will keep social media busy for the time being.
