Grammy Awards Madonna Performance Confirmed

Grammy Awards Madonna Performance ConfirmedMadonna confirmed her upcoming performance at the 2014 Grammy Awards via Instagram. Yesterday she posted a mysterious photo of herself masked behind fish-net stockings and stating that her lips were sealed. After recovering from a recent foot injury and ditching the crutches, she’s reportedly searching for the right pair of shoes for the star-studded night, according to an Instagram post from her earlier today. The latter photo is of her in a fitted black leather outfit and she is strumming a guitar. The secrecy is out, Madonna is ready and able to wow her fans at the Grammys this year.

Madonna made a name for herself early on as an artist who was willing to push the boundaries through her song lyrics and high energy and sometimes provocative performances. She set new fashion trends with her unique and daring choice of wardrobe. She’s best known for her outfits including leather, lace, cone-shaped bras and her use of crucifixes. Since her self-titled debut album was released in 1994, Madonna dominated the pop music charts, as well as MTV. She paved the way for many of the top performing female artists today.

No stranger to the Grammy Awards, Madonna has been nominated and awarded for a variety of her work, including the best electronic/dance album, her music videos, music she wrote for the movies “Who’s That Girl,” “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,” “With honors” and collaborations with other artists like Justin Timberlake. Her world tour videos have also earned her recognition over the years as well. “Madonna: The confessions Tour Live from London” and “Madonna: Blond Ambition World Tour Live” were both recognized at the Grammys in years past. Her performance this year confirms how relevant she continues to be, even among current artists such as Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry.

The 55-year old music legend is in good company. Also scheduled to perform are Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, Lorde, Daft Punk, Robin Thicke, Willie Nelson, Blake Shelton, Stevie Wonder, Imagine Dragons, Pink, Keith Urban, Beyoncé and Jay Z, to name a few.

Madonna wasn’t the only late performer confirmed for this year’s Grammy Awards, however. Miranda Lambert and Billy Joe Armstrong were also late additions. They are paired up to sing in honor of the late Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers.

This year’s Grammy nominees include a spectrum of artists from pop and country to rap and new age. A few of the nominated artists are Sara Bareilles, Macklemore, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and Alicia Keys.

Adding to the excitement of the show is the list of actors, actresses and performers who are scheduled to present this year’s awards. Presenters making an appearance include Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Marc Anthony, Zac Brown, Bruno Mars, Steve Coogan, Jeremy Reener, Steven Tyler and American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest.

The 56th annual Grammy Awards will be hosted by award-winning LL Cool J once again. Madonna confirmed that she will be there to perform live at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The awards show airs this Sunday at 8 PM EST.
