Honey Boo Boo (Alana Thompson) and her family were injured in a car accident Monday night. The family released a statement Tuesday advising of the car accident. Honey Boo Boo was in the car, along with her father “Sugar Bear” Mike Thompson, Mama June, sisters Lauryn Shannon “Pumpkin” and Jessica “Chubbs.” The family was transported to a local hospital by their bodyguard. It was Pumpkin’s birthday and one member of the family wanted to make sure the party continued.

The Thompson family stopped at a red light, waiting to make a left turn. Witnesses report the light turned to green and Sugar Bear eased into the left turn. Per sources on the scene, a truck driver was speeding coming the opposite way, with his vehicle lights off. The truck slammed into the family’s new vehicle. Luckily, no one was seriously injured, but rattled and experienced some pains and bruises.

Sugar Bear reportedly has a contusion on the back of his head, Mama June stated she is feeling back and neck pains, possibly a sprain. Sisters Chubbs and Pumpkin reportedly are suffering some aches and pains and Honey Boo experienced head pain after hitting her head against the passenger side window. Pumpkin is also experiencing bouts of panic attacks. Reportedly, only Mama June was not wearing her seatbelt, but the rest of the clan was. The accident jarred up the family but Mama June was adamant about one thing. It was Pumpkin’s birthday and the matriarch of the eclectic gang was not going to have an accident stop them.

While the family was releasing a statement, thanking the public for their well wishes and celebrating Pumpkin’s birthday, the other driver, Seth Cagle told E! another side of the story. The 19-year-old driver stated both drivers had the green light and Sugar Bear cut him off, creating the crash scene. Cagle states he was headed straight and had the right of way. Both vehicles, states the truck driver, waited until police arrived to take statements. The officers released both parties to go.

Cagle’s truck received damage to the grill area, the front bumper was broken off his vehicle and dents were noted on the front end of his truck as well, as outlined by the police report.  Honey Boo Boo’s family SUV received damages to the front grill, which was crushed, dents and scratches. An SUV, Mama June states that has been owned for only “..6 months and it’s not even paid off yet.” Luckily, for the family, the durability of the vehicle prevented possibly more injuries than those sustained.

It was a scary time for Honey Boo Boo and her family to have experienced the car accident. Per Mama June, it was the first time they ever experienced one. The family was reported as visiting a hospital, but no update was given if the doctor gave them medications to stave off the obvious pain the relatives are reflecting to the media. Cagle did not report any injuries to E! News when he spoke with a reporter. For anyone involved in an accident, the brunt of those pains arrive within 24 hours of the accident and may result in additional visits to the hospital. Currently, it would be wise for both parties to relay as much information as possible to their insurance companies.

Honey Boo Boo, Mama June and family were injured in a car accident Monday night. The family seems to be on a path of healing and handling the loss of a vehicle, which is relatively new. Luckily, all parties walked away without serious injuries. Hopefully, adoring fans will hear once again the fabulous quotes of a happy Honey Boo Boo like, “I need to get this Boo Boo in a tutu.” Heal well, the Thompson family!
