It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No, it’s Madonna! The 55-year-old superheroine will take the stage to team up with the dynamic duo of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Collaboration at the “Biggest Night in Music” is nothing new to the Material Girl. In 2006, Madonna teamed up with the rap group Gorillaz to perform her hit single Hung Up fused with the Grammy-nominated song Feel Good Inc. While the set list has not been confirmed for the star-studded cabaret, many assume the trio will perform Same Love. Same Love is a song written by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis which advocates for same sex-marriages. This endeavor should be fitting for the star as she is an avid supporter of same-sex marriages. Madonna, a known social activist and humanitarian has been involved in many other projects in years past. Madonna has performed at Live 8 and Live Nation, in an effort to raise money for worldwide social justice and activate awareness.
Madonna’s performance should be engaging and exciting; they always are. In the eyes of many, Madonna is one of the greatest pop stars of all time. She is a flawless dancer, excellent singer and has an uncanny way of acting out her songs as much as she sings them. In front of sold out audiences, Madonna sports festive yet thematic outfits along with ornate props and lighting. Many who have attended a Madonna show have left satisfied and never disappointed.
Madonna has also been a fixture in many memorable performances over the years. In 2003, The Material Girl synced up with diva sensations Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera in what was a historic rendition of one of her most famous songs, Like A Virgin. Spears and Aguilera were dressed as scantily-clad brides awaiting the groom played by none other than Madonna. The three legendary songstresses shared a kiss that is still etched in the imaginations of many red-blooded men and women across the world.
In 2012, Madonna would headline the Super Bowl halftime show. The pop queen would dazzle the audience and millions watching, with a medley of her most famous hits. Madonna, dressed as a pharaoh, entered the stadium on a throne befit for a queen of her prominence. Singing Vogue to begin her show, Madonna was escorted out by hundreds of carriers and dancers. She took the stage sporting a golden cape and headdress. Later on, Madonna would be joined by LMFAO, MIA, Nikki Minaj and Cee-Lo Green in one of the most compelling halftime shows to date.
Perhaps the Material Girl will don the golden cape once more, as she takes the stage with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis at the Grammys? The “seven-time Grammy Winner” just wrapped up her MDNA tour, but expect more to come from Madonna. Like wine, Madonna continues to get better with age.
