Madonna With Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Perform Same Love at Grammy Awards

Madonna, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Grammy Awards, Same LoveMadonna is set to perform with hip-hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis at the 2014 Grammys. While Madonna is not nominated for any awards this year, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ album, The Heist is up for Grammys in several categories.

According to the Huffington Post, the duo’s latest LP is up for Best Rap Album and Album of the Year awards this year. Their song Same Love is nominated for Song of the Yeartheir song Thrift Shop is nominated for Best Rap Performance and for Best Rap Song, and their video for Can’t Hold Us is nominated for Best Music Video. Also on their Grammy nomination list: Best New Artist. The other nominees in this category are James Blake, Kendrick Lamar, Kasey Musgraves, and Ed Sheeran.

2013, the biggest year of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ career, ends with chart-topping music from the pair, and 2014 is off to a great start with  Grammy nominations and a live performance of their song Same Love with Madonna. Via various forms of social media, the top selling female artist of all time, hinted that she would be on the Grammy stage this year after full recovering and healing after an ankle injury. The reports were officially confirmed on Friday, so we will see Madonna belt out the LGBT and same-sex marriage anthem that is so consistent with her message and a large portion of her following.

The unexpected, and now highly anticipated, pairing of Madonna with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis promises to take the song Same Love to a whole new level. Also performing this year are John Legend, Lorde, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and Keith Urban, plus more unlikely pairings, like Chicago with Robin Thicke, Imagine Dragons with Kendrick Lamar, Daft Punk with Stevie Wonder, Pink with Nate Ruess (the lead singer of fun.), Sara Bareilles with Carole King, and concert pianist Lang Lang with Metallica.

Rolling Stone also reports that Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Miranda Lambert will join forces to perform a tribute to Paul Everly, one half of the Everly Brothers. With such a loaded lineup, will the Grammy Academy throw in any extra surprise performances?

Where are Beyonce and Jay-Z? Sasha Fierce does not have any nominations (her self-titled album will be eligible for the 2015 Grammys), but husband Jay-Z has nine, including Best Rap Album for his Magna Carta…Holy Grail.

What about Justin Timberlake, who has seven nominations this year for his album, The 20-20 Experience – The Complete Experience, and for his collaborations with fellow nominee, Jay-Z? Justin’s song, Mirror is up for Best Pop Solo Performance, along with Royals by Lorde, When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars, Brave by Sara Bareilles, and Roar by Katy Perry. Who do you think will take home the Grammy?

With only ten awards set to be presented live, the 2014 presentation of the Grammy Awards will be very performance-heavy. Who will wow us this year on stage, and who will walk away with the most gramophone statues?

Tune in live, Sunday night at 8 EST on CBS to see Madonna perform Same Love with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, and to see all of the other scheduled and unannounced pairings that will take the Grammy stage.
