Bullock, People's Choice Awards

Sandra Bullock walks away with four wins at the 40th People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday. The 49-year-old actress received three of the awards for being a favorite movie actress. These awards included favorite dramatic movie actress as well as favorite comedy movie actress. Her roles that stood out from all the others were in Gravity and The Heat. The beloved actress also won the favorite movie duo alongside Gravity co-star George Clooney. Overall, Gravity won favorite drama movie of the year.

This Oscar-winning actress stated that actors can’t do their job without the hundreds of people who work for them and alongside them. Bullock goes on to say that she has learned so much throughout this past year and enjoyed working with Melissa McCarthy on The Heat as well as some very nice people during the filming of Gravity.

Bullock always had a passion for singing and acting ever since she was a child. She attended college with a major in acting which would eventually mold her in to the actress the public knows today. The young actress began acting in the late 1980s but ultimately began creating a reputation for her acting in the early 90s starting with Demolition Man in 1993.

Her role in Demolition Man led to her roles in Speed, The Net, While You Were Sleeping, A Time to Kill, and Hope Floats. Once the new millennium took place there was no stopping this ambitious actress. She kicked off the new millennium by starring in the timeless classic Miss Congeniality.

Miss Congeniality was about this tomboy workaholic cop who ended up posing as a beauty pageant contestant to stop crime. Bullock’s character was forced to go from tomboy and rugged, to proper and delicate in only a matter of days.

From 2002 until 2005, Bullock took on smaller roles to fill her time. When 2005 hit, she starred in Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, the sequel to her classic Miss Congeniality in 2000. From then on she was starring in a master piece almost every year. Bullock portrayed important roles in The Lake House in 2006, Premonition in 2007, The Proposal in 2009, and The Blind Side in 2009. Most recently she has starred in The Heat with Melissa McCarthy which snagged her the award for favorite comedy movie.

It has been confirmed that there will be a sequel to The Heat which will be released in 2015. It has been rumored that Bullock will be starring as Sarah Ashburn again. Currently the 49-year-old actress is in the middle of filming The Minions as the voice of Scarlett Overkill.

During Bullock’s speech, she made sure to than her “husband”, Sean Hayes, for being there for her day and night. This was a joke to the presenter Hayes who had called Bullock his wife when he was announcing the winner of favorite comedic movie actress. The actress made sure to touch all bases when thanking everyone who had made these awards possible. She even went on to thank her son for letting her come out. She stated her son was going to wonder why she received all of those awards. Her answer was simple, “there are people who work a lot harder than Mommy to make her look good.” After taking home these four awards, Bullock can sit back on the realization of how big she has made it since the early 90s.
