CNN Officially Cancels ‘Piers Morgan Live’ Not Piers Morgan [Video]

Piers Morgan's career is not overPiers Morgan Live is officially cancelled by CNN but Piers Morgan’s career is far from over. Morgan is the man who has constantly reinvented himself and finds a way to have his voice heard. In the 80s he began his career as a newspaper reporter; in 2004 he moved over to The Mirror, joined the judges of America’s Got Talent in 2006 and landed his own talk show in 2011.

Morgan was born in Newick, East Sussex, England on March 30, 1965. He gained his international celebrity status as the host of CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight; his own interview program. Morgan’s journalism career began in the 80s when became a reporter for newspapers in South London and Surrey. By the late 80s Morgan had transitioned to The Sun as the editor of entertainment where he wrote and edited a gossip column.

Morgan’s media career really took flight in 1994 when Rupert Murdoch chose him to be the new editor of News of the World, a weekly tabloid. At that time the young journalist became one of the youngest editors, at only 28-years-old, to run a national British newspaper. Morgan left News of the World after only a short period.

In 1995 Morgan took the reins of The Mirror where he developed a reputation of a controversial and aggressive editor. Morgan’s desire to get the scoop at any cost landed The Mirror in trouble on several occasions. In 2004 he lost the top post when he ran photographs, which later proved to be bogus, showing British solders abusing Iraqi prisoners.

Although Morgan’s departure from The Mirror was unpleasant he took this as an opportunity to reinvent himself. Morgan took his talents to the small screen where he became the co-host of a political chat show. During this time Morgan wrote his popular memoir and conducted many interviews for the British edition of GQ with a variety of celebrities.

The United States was introduced more fully to Morgan’s abrasive personality when he became a judge on America’s Got Talent with David Hasselhoff. Morgan, the sharply critical judge, later worked with Howie Mandel and Sharon Osborne on the popular talent show.

By 2008 Morgan found himself on another reality TV show called The Celebrity Apprentice where he became one of the most loathed competitors. On Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice Morgan emerged as the victorious one in Trump’s series of battles as the greatest business shrewd men. Two years later Morgan was named the successor to talk show host Larry King on CNN.

Morgan’s latest show, Piers Morgan Live (formally known as Piers Morgan Tonight) debuted in early 2011. The talk show host has featured many celebrities during his tenure on CNN with Oprah Winfrey, Howard Stern and George Clooney being among his first guests. Just three years later CNN has decided to cancel Piers Morgan Live due to low ratings.

As it stands Piers Morgan may be out a job but definitely not out of work; Morgan says he will still have a role at CNN, which has yet to be determined. Piers Morgan is one guy who has constantly triumphed against adversity; although Piers Morgan Live has officially been cancelled by CNN, Morgan’s career is far from over.
